I just bought a S&W 6906 LEO trade in and it is what you might expect, worn often, shot seldom. The primary point of the holster wear is the black sights. They are worn clean at the corners. The choices to renew them at this point are either 1) black sharpie, 2)flat black spray paint, or 3) a cold blue dip.
Does anyone have any suggestions or experience to offer?
Thanks,

How much are you wanting to spend?
*perm fix*
Have the sights removed and duracoated.
Get new sights and replace the worn ones.

*not perm but more durable than a sharpie*
Go to the plastic car model section of the craft store and get some Testor's black enamel. (even better = Pactra flat black)
Get some of your wife's fingernail polish.

*the last two options will be glossy unless you do somthing about that...*

Thanks

Thanks guys. All good ideas. I'll let you know what I did and how it turned out, but know I must put on my handy man hat and tear into my central a/c. It went out yesterday. I wonder why they never go out in the Fall or Winter?

I feel for you, and your wallet.
My Central system went out over a week ago. Bad compressor. But it was about 23 years old, so i did get my moneys worth out of it.
It was evidently VERY inefficient Cause i went to home Depot and bought 3 $99 window units for the bedrooms and i already had a small 5k BTU window unit in my workshop that i put in the kitchen, and from what i can tell from reading my meter for the past week, my electric bill will go DOWN about 20% with 4 window units running instead of 1 central unit.:drinks

I have gotten 2 bids already, but i think they are a little higher than I want to spend right now, so i just ordered a HUGE window unit Frigidaire 22,000 BTU (2 ton), for $425.00 from walmart. It should do a wondrous job of freezing me when it is installed. And my electric bill should STILL be cheaper than it was with my central unit.:dancingbanana

One of the advantages of window units is that you need only cool one room at a time; i.e. your bedroom.

My central a/c problem was resolved down from a $3,200 replacement, to a $475 contractor repair, to $139 new fan motor and 6 hours of my time.

For what it may be worth as a "teaching moment", the unit shut down due to overheating. The overheating was caused by a burned out fan motor. The burnt out fan motor was caused by a cracked solder joint and the kingdom was lost for the lack of a horse shoe.

The most difficult parts were diagnosing the problem, disassembling 30 year old components and re wiring the new 8 lead motor to the old 3 wire system. However, when all was said and done, I think that $139 is better than $3,200.

Now, If I can just get another 30 years out of it!
