How do you all shoot? Sights vs no sights, one eye or both?

I have always been a point shooter within 30 ft or so. Tend to go sights after that. But even when I do shoot with sights, I have always left both eyes open. Leaving both open allows me to draw the sights in plus maintain target no matter what the target may do. I even shoot two eyes open when using a scope, helps if the critter trys to move around some and makes putting the crosshairs back on target faster when field of view is small. Shotgun-same thing.

Many methods are effective. The one I am most confortable for hand guns with is taught by Front Sight. Fixed sights. Set for 25 yards. Both eyes open. Double tap.

My personal ratio of dry-fire to live-fire is 5:1 always followed with an after fire drill.

Both eyes open. Point shooting [no sights] inside 10 yards. Sights beyond that.

I point shoot very well within 20 yds. Always within center mass and most always pretty close grouping. I don't shut an eye at all for that. Rifles I use left eye shut and scopes the same! :drinks

My eyes with glasses still suck. 1 eye closed for everything. Even the Eotech's I have I need 1 eye or I can't focus right.
Point & shoot both eyes open, but I have to force myself to do it still.
I use the sights almost all the time. I focus more on the front however.

I have done both over the course of time.

Now I tend to do more point shooting at 15 yards or less and after that I like to aim. Trying to aim with both eyes open but too many years of aiming with one eye closed is a habit that can be hard to break.

One handed 85-90% of the time with both eyes open, threat focused [ of course ] out to 10 yds or so when all I need is combat accuracy. Line of sight [ front sight press or full sight picture for precision shots.

I shoot both eyes open. I practice target shooting (two hands) at 7, 12,20 yards. One handed (both hands) at 7 yards. Weak handed two hands at 7 yards. Move back to 7 yards for draw, point and fire multi taps. More up to 10 feet for draw and fire from the hip, multi taps. I go weekly and still manage to be pretty average.:ak

"I go weekly and still manage to be pretty average." I like an honest man.
I've gone weekly for the last several weeks, and I've learned that:
1) my eyes aren't as good as they used to be, I need new glasses.....
2) my hands aren't as steady as they used to be. No more head shots at 25 yards. I'm just not that good anymore. Not an easy thing to admit.

Beers y'all,
Ken
