I think it's okay to legally OPEN carry in your home.
But what about:

When answering the door?
When outside on your porch?
When police come to the door for something unrelated?

Still legal. I'm sure that I wouldn't want to make a LEO nervous, but it would be legal.
It's legal to the borderline of your property. However just to be on the safe side I would only do it in the house.
Anyone ever answer the door with your sidearm visible?
All the time.

My pizza is NEVER late. :D

You know it's just that big TIP they're expecting that keeps them coming on time. :laughing

If you have a neighbor that has it out for you. They may say you pointed the gun at them. (even if you didn't) Its best off IMO that you don't open carry outside the confines of your home on your property unless your a LEO in uniform or you are checking out a possible BG on your property.
Agreed. Discretion and legality are two different animals.
Open carry is legal within the boundaries of your property or the property of another with the owner's permission. Where problems crop up is when the weapon is handled in a manner that would lead a reasonable person to feel threatened. Generally this happens when someone is waving the muzzle around in a careless or threatening manner or points it at another without sufficient need or provocation. The specific criminal charge is usually reckless display of a firearm or, in the latter case, assault with a deadly weapon.

Best bet, for general carry, is to carry a handgun concealed or holstered unless threatened.

Yep. I have TWO "No Soliciting" signs at my front door. If I didn't invite you, you're not going to be staying long.

Don't you find it strange that your pizza delivery guy comes to your door wearing a "Second Chance" vest and Kevlar helmet?? :rolf
Only the first time.:)

When I was living in an apartment complex, I got home from work about 0700 one morning. Threw my jacket on the couch and headed for the fridge.

Knock at the door (which was not unusual at that time in my life ;)). I opened the door to two Jehovah's Witnesses, not exactly what I was expecting. Their eyes got a little buggy, and they simply said "sorry to bother you sir", and left.

Didn't think anything of it. Went to the head and caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror....still wearing a shoulder rig with a Smith 6904 and two spare mags.

Another way to do so is to put one of these on your door ...... :D

In my neighborhood, I really don't want my neighbors to know what I have. Maybe I am wrong, but, if they see you with weapons all of the time it doesn't take long for the word to get around. Then one day while you are at work, someone comes looking for the firepower that they have heard of. While inside they also take whatever else they want. Maybe I am paranoid, but in my eyes it is better safe than sorry.
