hello, while i am waiting for my permit to be issued i am looking for some holster recommendations. i have a springfield armory gi model 1911 45. i know it is not the most compact or light weight pistol to conceal carry but it is all i have right now (that and a walther p38). i was looking at the crossbread holsters advertised here. i do have "love handles" so i was thinking on something that would not stick in my side. thanks for any recommendations.

Mass from 1971-2004.

Transplanted there out of the Corps. Did 28 years as a PI, with 9 of those in LE work as well.

I know Acushnet and New Bedford quite well. You of Portuguese decent? I lived on the South Shore about 35 minutes out of Boston.

I know this is about concealed carry holsters but I am planning on attending a tactical class (sorry, could not make Brownies but would like to one day) and I need to purchase a strong side, OWB holster.

Brownie and all, any recommendations?

Sorry for the hijack.

What kind of firearm?
S&W M&P .40 full size

Whose class (yes, that matters!)?
Gun school owner on east coast teaching a basic foundation class that is prereq for advanced classes. This would not be like IDPA or rolling around on the ground or fast draw stuff.

What holsters do you currently own?
None

One of LittleBearHolster's Large Paw OWBs would fill the bill nicely. If you can't wait the 2-3weeks it'll take, something from the local gun shop would suffice.

Galco Combat Master or Concealable.
Kydex holster from Blade-Tech or Blackhawk.

Don't forget a good belt and mag pouches, too. You don't want to be wrestling with your gear during a class...it's not fun.

Enjoy the class!
