I have been noticing this on several forums when someone is shopping for a specific type firearm some would be concerned with price but then again if we were all millionares we would have our own attorneys to council us. alot just through out brands and not really knowing whats happening out there cause they haven't been shopping cause they have these firearms already and not meant to speak bad of anyone.

I find it sad that some Gun Shops are taking full advantage in what i feel is gauging the buyer i realize supply and demand but let get real not every brand out there is hard to come by only several certain models and that would explain rise in price come on only a month ago M&P 9mm was in the $450-500 range now almost $600.????

Shootstraight wants to sell LCPs for $500.00 when the MSRP is $330.???

Oh and Xds they want to sell for $629. when a local shop here selling for $519.00

I saw a Walther PPS last month for $619.00 now they are $699.00.

If you are looking for a glock 19 or a 26 if you see it on the shelf snatch it cause won't be there for long.

All 9mms going really fast more popular cause of cost of ammo.

40s and 45s seem to be on the shelves some what longer.

sorry for the rant but last time i check we the people keep you Gun shops in bussiness if we the people stopped shopping with you,i guess you wouldn't be in bussiness long .

Sorry for the Rant folks just really gets me how greedy people can get.
yep i know its bussiness but theres good bussineess and bad bussiness practice.
What do you folks think??????????

I was in Shoot Straight there on 17-92 this past week looking for PPS magazines. They had none. Neither does East Orange. As I was looking around at Shoot Straight I also noticed the PPS was in the $695 range. I asked him if he could quote me a price and he looked at the tag and said it was $695. He didn't even offer to bargain with me like they have in the past.

I wonder if East Orange is doing the same thing. I haven't checked with them. Just when I find a new hobby the prices are going up and up and up.

There are some good shops still around. I deal with one that I trust and we address each other on a first name basis. I don't buy firearms from a large retailer or gun shows. I rather buy from the mom and pop shop and build the relationship.

+1 on the good shops. I was at Lou's in Hialeah last weekend and the guy I've been dealing with quoted me a price (MSRP) and stuck to it. Most of our communication was back and forth over the internet. I ended up buying the gun but having to wait because they had to order it. Other shops in this area wanted anywhere from 30 to 70 dollars more.

bought a keltec pf9 2 months ago at pompano pawn, copans and andrews in pompano. they said list price was $399.00, but sold it to me for $309.00. Thats my second one from them. They seem to be fair, at least in my dealings with them. john

Still some good gunshop guys around...

I do most of my shopping/buying at 4 out of the 6 shops in the Lake City area. I look at the other two from time to time, but prices seem inflexible. I was in my "most" favorite yesterday morning to pick up a used Hi-Point 995 carbine to do an ATI project, and by 9 am he was jammed with buyers. My wife had dropped me off to go to her nearby Quilt shop, so I had some jawjacking time to spend. By my 11 o'clock departure, I saw at least 5 guns go out the door, and still lots of folks seriously shopping. The owner/gunsmith and his son were busier than the proverbial one-armed paper hanger, selling, demoing, writing-up etc., while his wife and sister were calling in to the Feds. I have bought 3 guns from him since Dec, (1873 Carbine, Stevens 22 and the HP)(plus sold him 2) and his prices are fair, selection great and his personal touch, unmatchable. I saw shelves of ammo at last year's prices, reloading supplies & accessories everywhere. So, there are still good guys out there who are not trying to take advantage of the panic and these are the shops that will still be thriving after the panic is over. I won't advertise him here but if anybody wants to know who this is, just look up gun shops in Mayo, or PM me. Just the view from my saddle.....BC

If you are looking for a glock 19 or a 26 if you see it on the shelf snatch it cause won't be there for long.

We've got 8 of them in the shop as of yesterday morning [ g19's ]. Last night when I closed we had 4 and 3 are spoken for this morning at 9am [ two to a couple that were in late last night and didn't have the funds with them and another one for myself while we have some :) ]

The 26 is very hard to get and we haven't seen one in the shop for at least 4 months.

Prices are climbing at the shop. The G17's and 19 were 499.95 for the last three years and this last batch have been marked up to 529.95. Not bad but the distribs are hitting us with increases so we'll pass that on to the consumer at the exact same figure and no more.

XDM's are expensive, but XD's can be had for about the price of a glock. I don't think the XDm is worth the extra hundred bucks myself, but I can't keep them in the shop as customers buy them as soon as I 've got them.

Can't get LCP's, but they are priced at 349.00 last time through. Small 32 and 380 Kel-tecs are non existent for months and trickle in one or two at a time, then gone in an hour or so.

Ammo prices have increased 25% every three months from the distribs for the last 18 months. We pass that onto the consumer and are lucky if we have it in stock most of the time.

Thanks for this insight, Brownie. We all know that the prices of everything are just going to keep going up and up yet we feel helpless to do anything about it. At times, as a customer, you just feel like you are being picked apart by the vultures one bite at a time. It is nice to hear it from the perspective of a shop who feels our pain yet must stay in business at the same time.

My gun and ammo investments are doing quite nicely in the last 6 month:D

Another 6 months and I may start unloading some of the duplicates I have in AR's, AK's and FAL's. :rolf

It's been tough keeping things in stock, and the prices as reasonable as possible for the customers, but we're holding our own for the moment.

Best bet is to shop around, I visited a dozen shops when looking for my XDM, prices ranged from $589 to $725 (guess which one I bought).
I can understand passing on the distributors' increases but some shops are just ridiculous with their own markup! :ak
