What is your opinion on this group? I did a search of our forum for info and I came up empty handed. From what I read, it looks good in theory. Does anyone have any experience with GOF? I am particularly interested with what our attorney/FCC Members think of this group. Please see the link below.

: censored"You never have to pay another penny unless a member qualifies for and needs the support of the network."

Sounds like something out of the Communist Manifesto. :puke

"How does it work?
Members join and pay a one-time lifetime fee of $59.99. Fee covers one person and their spouse for life. If a member is arrested or charged with a victimless crime for exercising his or her fundamental rights within the law, the money collected will be put towards their legal defense.
If one-time membership fees alone do not cover the costs, the remaining cost is apportioned evenly among all members. (eg. if there are 1000 members, and member John Doe incurs 10,000 DOLLARS in costs, each member pays 10 DOLLARS and John Doe doesn't go broke).
The evenly-apportioned costs have a limit up to 100 (still pending membership vote) DOLLARS"

And if no one pays for your : censored, then what?

I also don't know how they determine if someone is arrested or charged with a victimless crime... within the law. Seems only the Courts can decide that. If someone joins, maybe they can fill us in.

Keep in mind, SD is NOT considered a victimless crime. In a SD case, the attacker is identified as the "victim", I disagree with this, but such is the case. So this commune would not pay for a SD case.

I guess I do harbor more paranoia than I thought. Anytime I see something like this I start to wonder who is behind the whole thing.
I mean in reality, this could be a group of people just trying to catalog names and personal information on gun owners/ carriers. And making money in the process.

There could always be a reason they can't help you 'money is not in the fund, etc' and keep stringing new members along. Florida has made the names of those who are granted carry permits confidential to protect our privacy, I would be a little nervous freely giving that information to someone I didn't know.
Even if they are legit, and some anti-gun nut hacks into their database and decides to post the information online....

I mean, in theory it seems like a good idea, however for me the risks would outweigh any of the benefits.

Don't know about them may be great but if it sounds to be good to be true, listen to that little voice in your head. It may be legitimate. a left wing looney tune scam or a ultra right wing militia. "Caveat Emptor",( Let the buyer beware.")

Any reason we couldn't do something like that on FCC for our members? It's not like we don't know an attorney to contact. And I get the distinct impression the people here seem to be trustworthy..Of course assumption don't always come true..

My thoughts exactly, couldn't we start something similar here?
or

Patrick, could be a business opportunity here, how does this sound, join "The Buckley Defense Foundation" ????????????????? or perhaps one of our other entrepaneurial attorneys could start something similar to Prepaid legal services exclusively for Gun issues - just thinking out loud.
