Okay, we've run the gamut of cleaning. Now, what do you use on your gun as a rust preventative/lubricant?

Break-Free and Rig.

And Wilson Ultima-Lube...that stuff is slicker than warm snot on a doorknob.

Break-free CLP.

I just ordered some Break-free LP and I'll let you know what I think of that when it arrives.

Just sprayed some Rem Oil on my new shotgun before I put it away.

Hey FLRon,

Where'd you order the Break-free LP from?

Good luck with ordering from Botach. I've had less than stellar service from them, but sometimes you get lucky...

Never heard that mentioned in anything I have read. I use TW-25B on the slides. Seems to hold up a bit better than CLP. Some people even use both if you have a tight fitting slide such as a Sig.

Gun lubrication seems to be part science, part lore, part personal voodoo.

Deadeye,

At the risk of being or sounding totally ignorant, what is Rig?

I think that's mostly good for use in low temperature environments and in dusty conditions (e.g., the Middle East), where conventional oil-based lubricants tend to gum up.

It's a heavy grease formulated for use in firearms (Rust Inhibiting Grease), used mostly for long-term storage. It's not the kind of stuff you want to put on your slide rails.

Just wanted to update that Botach shipped me the wrong product and will not make it right or even answer any of my three e-mails that I sent to correct the situation.

DO NOT USE BOTACH!!! Thumbs down big time. :thumbsdwn

I just tried Mil-Tec. The stuff is amazing. They used to give free samples, send your e-mail address and request a sample. A little goes a long way.
