Hi, i'm new to florida, just got here a few days ago.

I'm a gun guy, and a bike guy.

Look forward to some good IPSC matches. Anyone know any clubs near west palm beach?

welcome to the forum atek3 :thumsup. The closest matches are probably held at Markhampark which is about 45 miles from West Palm Beach. Please let us know what you find.

Try Gator Guns at 2154 Zip Code Pl West Palm Beach, FL 33409 (561) 683-1411. I have seen instructors and students there.

What's up with this:

"Sorry no AK 47 or SKS or similar firearms allowed.
By similar we mean an AK or SKS that someone wants to call something else.

Other autoloaders are fine such as AR15's M1's and the like.

Why? If you were a Veteran you would understand. Please do not call us to debate the issue."

As a Non-vet I don't understand. Last time I checked those were both pretty serviceable carbines.

My guess would be bad memories. People may have been trying to kill them with those weapons once upon a time.

I have friends who swear by their AK's and SKS's, but I for one don't have one and wouldn't want one.

The reason? Well, I trained for years to fight against and kill Communists who carried and used AK's and SKS's. To many, the AK and SKS represents Communisim, and for that reason they want nothing to do with them.

Fortunately, I never had one fired at me, or had to fire at someone carrying one, but that "stigma", I guess you would call it, is still there.

I know there are many gun enthusiasts that look at a gun as a weapon, and do not attach any further thought to it's background or historical links. I never could do that and agree wholeheartedly with TampaSsgt. I can't look at an AK and not think how that was the weapon that was used to kill Americans and our Allies.

No matter how much a reliable workhorse it is, I will never put an AK in my safe next to my beloved M4 & M1A.

Just the way I feel.

Ron, the more posts I read of yours, the more I get the strange feeling that we must have been "related in some past life". :D: thumsup
