Hello, my name is Chris and I live in Pace, FL which is near Pensacola. I grew up in New Jersey and after high school I joined the Marine Corps. After my hitch with the Corps I became a Firefighter and EMT working for the county I live in. I have now moved here to sunny Florida to enjoy the rest of my life. I am an avid outdoorsman and enjoy hunting and fishing. I am also a licensed amateur radio operator with a General Class endorsement. I am a believer in the rights of all Americans to keep AND bear arms. I also believe that a well armed citizen can prevent crime to himself and others. This is my reason for submitting for a concealed carry permit.

8/30/2009 - Took CCW Class/Completed Finger Print Scan/Paperwork.
9/11/2009 - Mailed all paperwork USPS Priority Mail w/Confirmation (USPS Tracking Never Did Show Delivery)
9/18/2009 - Check Cashed
12/18/2009 - Called and checked status, was told something in my background was being investigated.
1/8/2010 - Received Card in Mail

112 days total from check being cashed until receiving card.

I will continue to update this entry as my application progresses along.

Chris

Updated 1st post with application progress.
Welcome!
youre in Pace? Im over here in Milton. Glad to see some local members showing up. If you don know already, do some research and find out about ERML, Escambia River Muzzle Loaders. Local, private membership, firing range. Only local range to practice holster draw, double taps, etc. None of that "only one shot every 2 seconds" crap. Glad to have you here!
I am over near Spencer Field, on the Northeast corner. I have thought about going to EMRL but the cost seems a bit high. I have been thinking about it for years now and will more then likely bite the bullet after the first of the year.
Welcome aboard Chris.
Updated first post - They cashed my check so now the clock starts!
Welcome aboard Chris. Unfortunately I sent for mine the old fashioned way and had to wait about 2 months....Seems like more and more people are beginning to see the light.:dancingbanana
Hey Chris.... I'm a new member from the Panhandle too..... former military and a HAM (KJ4JZV) as well.
It took me 7 months to get my FL permit for CCW by the regular mail process...... and I was a cop in MO for over 20 years.
Hope yours comes a lot quicker!!!
Welcome! I'm a little south of you down on the coast. I feel for you guys having to wait so long. I thought six weeks was a long time when I got mine seven years ago, can't imagine waiting seven months....
Welcome from Hudson, Florida. Thanks for serving your country.....
Hello and welcome from the Florida Keys
Just wanted to update everyone. I got my card in the mail today! Time to head to WalllyWorld!

haha, I missed it! I work part-time at WallyWorld in Pace now as to supplement my lost hours at job #1. That would have been funny to be able to recognize you and see the look on your face and demeanor as you walked concealed through the dangerous aisles of the infamous WallyWorld, lol. Congrats on your license and be safe and smart.
Best walk of my life! I feel like a new man!
Wow, what a long wait! I got mine before all this backlogging began, and it only took 21 business days. That was also right in the middle of a Christmas/New Years holiday, so I know the offices were closed for some extra time.
I didn't sweat the wait, it was the last thing on my mind. I had almost forgot about it until the card arrived. I am glad that I don't have to do it again for 7 years.

It's funny, I am finding all kinds of ways to carry stuff now. I am sitting here typing this with four knives in different pockets just to see how it feels. Working on my EDC now.

Kind of like a new hobby!

Awesome. You should check out ERML as well. They have a cowboy shoot out there tomorrow, (Sunday). I'm going to go check it out. I have done the last 2 IPDA shoots since I have been back in country and am smoking at it so I want to get into other things as well for more competition, even though I don't imagine the cowboy thing will be my style.
welcome from Jax and congrats on the new license
I have been thinking about starting the IDPA, especially now that I have my CCW. Like I said, this is turning into a new hobbie.
