Just a quick update.On July 28 I mailed my CWFL 'Return Receipt Requested.' Asof today, August 5, 2008, I have not even received the return recipt back yet. I guess they check their mailbox every once in a while whether they need to or not

Keep checking to see if they cashed your check. That's a good way to know if they received your application.
