I'm going to do what I did post-SH.... just sit tight. I didn't buy any ammo for a long time after SH. I refused to pay the inflated prices. But, I had "plenty" of ammo on hand. Certainly plenty if the SHTF. I just didn't shoot much. I sat on my stash.

I'll do the same this time, which won't last as long, IMO.

I'm sure not going to panic and overpay for ammo I don't even need.

Quite right.

And here's the thing about "gouging." If the price is pushed up high enough then the people who are stupidly panicking, and trying to stock up with far more than they need, will stop. It will just become too expensive. The result will be that there will still be some available for those who absolutely HAVE to buy, no matter what the price.

Force prices down and there is no reason for people NOT to buy a million rounds of ammunition, or 500 rolls of toilet paper, or 100 gallons of hand sanitizer, or whatever. Then the supply will completely run out, and those who absolutely need to have whatever the commodity might be, will not be able to get it, regardless of what they might be willing to pay. That would be a REALLY BAD THING for those people.

So, reasonable price increases, to keep the supply and demand in balance are a GOOD THING. Companies that increase prices too much will find that no one wants to buy their product -- they will make the same choice the OP did. So it becomes self-regulating.

It is capitalism and the free-market in operation. It is kind of depressing to me to see so many people who want socialist/communist types of price regulation on products just because of a little blip like this covid hysteria that we are experiencing right now. Keep your head, and this, too, shall pass.

Just sold a case of winchester white box 9mm for 500.00. I need to go back to the house, have another case sold soon as I get get into the shop.

Been asked to sell some 223/556 and my 45acp from my stash, thinking about it. You want ammo, didn't have the forethought to stack deep when it was cheap and available? Gonna have to pay more if you want to shoot during the panic. Me? I can dump another 10 cases of 9mm and several cases of 223 or 45acp and still have more ammo than I'll ever shoot. :grin

I have no qualms about selling SOME of the stock I"m sitting on, but it's gonna cost ya if you wan it now. :dunno

Ya got that right, I just sold my second case of 9mm for 50.00 per hundred. I'll be out of the last case by the end of the day. Imagine that, $1K cash this morning, another 500.00 before the end of the day :rofl
