I carried a brace of 1911's many times while working assignments [ one strong side and one crossdraw ]. Carried a 1911 most of the time over the 28 years on the streets back east. Most knew I was a 1911 guy back then.
Been carrying a glock 17 primarily for the last 4 years. Took a couple of extended trips to the desert and a few thousand rounds to get into the swing of this breed, but it's been the constant companion since then.
I've gone back to the 1911 a few times for a day here or there, miss the old slabsides in some strange nostalgic way even now, but the weight of my govt models and single stack round count don't give me the warm and fuzzies like they used to so they get put back in the safe. The Colts and SA's are old friends and kept good company serving well in their intended purpose. The SA I'll never sell particularly in that role [ it's been completely rebuilt once ].
I'd take one of them into battle at a moments notice today, both the Colt and SA stand ready for duty at a moments notice, but they don't get the attention they once did.
I'll never not own a few 1911's.
