Does anyone else find Glocks too bulky or heavy to carry daily and find yourself leaving it at home or in the car more often than you would like?? I can get a great deal on a G23 right now but am concerned I wouldn't carry it as often. I currently carry a PF-9 and can virutally carry it everywhere. I'm 5'11 170lbs. Preferred method is IWB @ 4 o'clock. There's nothing wrong with the PF-9 but 13 rounds of .40 would be great.

I carry a full size glock 17 almost year round, and only swap out for two J frames in the back pockets and a third J frame on the belt to switch things up some once in a while.

Might also carry a glock 21sf, glock 30, or 1911 full size 45 in lieu of the glock 17 as well.

Heat reaches 115-120 in the summer, and even though the humidity might be 40-50%, you are soaked in short order and it's no different than the Fla weather of 90's and 90% humidity.

It's a matter of what you feel comfortable carrying for rds on board without having to make a reload. You can get used to anything if you really want to carry a bigger gun. The sacrifice is worth it to me, may not be to others who prefer smaller lighter guns to carry daily.

A lot of the opinions and advise given here is based on personal preference. Height, weight, holster type, etc. But we all have different dimensions and different preferences. I'm 6'00" and 150 lbs. The same carry method that I used to employ when I weighed 170 doesn't work now. I have to adjust.

Now I know some people say you should adjust your wardrobe around your EDC, and I agree in most part. But I'm not willing to go from jeans and a polo shirt to "Miami Vice" looking garments just to make my weapon not "print". When I go to the mall (I hate that place so that only happens about once a year), Wally World, or a restaurant, I can spot the potential carriers a mile away based on their ridiculous looking attire. Nothing speaks "Firearm!" like some dude with pasty white skin wearing a tropical print shirt that's 2 sizes too big for him.

My point in all of this is...., yes you may need to adjust your wardrobe a bit. But that doesn't mean that you may not have to adjust your weapon choice as well. Their will be some here who may say "I'll never adjust my weapon, only my wardrobe". To them I say.."Fine, carry an AK-47 and wear a Burka". Don't tell me you don't adjust to the climate or your wardrobe! Sure you do.

Find a comprimise in weapons and wardrobe that you are comfortable with and won't leave at home. That combination is the most consistent and effective.

Ken

Hi,
I agree with Hodawg about the need to adjust. I've carried a few different pistols from a 1911 to a derringer. My favorite though is the Glock 19. If for somereason I need to go real light I prefer my KetTec P32 in a pocket holster, otherwise the Glock is very comfortable. It's all in the holster. By the way I'm 6ft. and weigh 200lbs.

I don't mean to offend but many people are fine with a mousegun....................... until they need it.

I've never, ever met anyone that's been in the position of immediate need of the use their firearm who didn't wish that they had a BIGGER GUN.

Small guns are mostly chambered for inadequate cartridges that are less then adequate to quickly stop an aggressor, hard to shoot well, hard to reload and totally inadequate at the moment of truth.

I carry a 5" 1911, all day, every day and yes it's not always comfortable, but it's always comforting. ;)

Have a variety of Glocks for daily carry, and holsters to "match". It's true, it is all in the holster. Glocks carry easy, always go bang, and are great hammers for nailing up pictures. :laughing
Truly a great all around gun!

I don't think a Glock is any more difficult to conceal than any other full size service pistol.

Now my S&W 4506...that's heavy. Makes a Glock feel positively feathery by comparison. :D

the right rig will make the g23 disappear..

sometimes i have to make a hasty quick swipe to 3 o'clock to make sure I didn't leave it on the nightstand (never do tho)
I agree with GlockComa. The right holster and belt rig will help out tremendously because it will help with the distribution of the weight.

I carry a Glock 23 in a MTAC IWB. At first I was very conscious of the weight and the difference in how my belt felt after a few weeks of wearing the G23 in the MTAC I have to remind myself I'm actually carrying, very comfortable.

You garden variety Polo belt from Macys aint made to support a firearm :D I plan on getting a matching holster in Shark Skin for X Mas..I wanted a nasty looking snake skin belt holster haha but the wife thought it was too over the top..

Heavy... no. thick... yes
I carry a G27. It's very light. My 1911 is too heavy & so is my M9. But those are thinner. I find Glock's to be too thick. I know they could slim the frame down if they wanted to. There's no reason for the trigger guard to be so damn thick.

My carry is a G26. I don't leave home without it. It's smaller and lighter than my S&W Model 19. And close enough to my S&W Model 36. I got it to replace the 36 as my EDC. Since I got it I have carried the 36 once, as a BUG!

For me it all boils down to changing how I carry instead of what I carry. I pocket carry, use a SmartCarry, use a modified fanny pack (not a big gun pack but a small pack that just barely holds a gun), and I also use an MTAC IWB holster (my favorite). It all depends on what I'm doing and where I'm going.

I still want to get an ankle holster, an OWB holster, and a shoulder holster. I'm not sure I really need them but it's always good to have options!

I carry full size guns all the time. Sig 226 or G17 for example. Definitely the right holster AND belt make the difference. Bot IWB and OWB,

There appears to be A LOT of Glock owners here...with slightly ruffed feathers, maybe?:rolf
Note to self, don't speak any evil over Glocks. Glocks are good, Glocks are pretty, Glocks aways go bang, Glocks are accurate, Glocks are nicely priced, etc. Glocks are good!:thumsup
