I have a Glock 23 that I shoot very well and I am quite comfortable with except for the magazine release. My hands are medium in size and I have great difficulty dropping the magazine with one hand. I have no problem holding the 23 with the right hand and using my left thumb to drop the magazine but I don't want to be in scenario where my left hand is out of commission and I have to depend on just my right hand to survive the shoot out. Lots of companies make extended magazine releases for Glock including Glock, but I am looking for a release that I can engage with one hand without an increased chance of it being engaged when the gun is holstered. The last thing I want to do is pull my gun in a self defense situation only to hear the mag hit the floor and I'm left with a one shot pistol. I could use some help

I had the same problem. I have short fingers and to reach the mag release on my XD 9mmSC was difficult. I did get a longer mag release and installed it myself. After I installed it I had the problem that Brownie talks about, that the magazine would pop out because the button would hit the leather of my holster. I use a CrossBreeds SuperTuck.

I took a 1/2 inch forstner bit and drilled a hole in the leather where the mag release button hits it. I also graded the hole so that the button would not be caught on the edge of the hole when I am drawing my XD as the leather is quite thick. This is my EDC and I have not had any problems with it so far.

I have the factory extended mag releases on several of my Glocks (they're the only ones I would even consider); I have had no problems thus far with inadvertently releasing the magazine, but I do find that they tend to stick out a bit and have very sharp corners. I just debur the corners and edges and I'm good to go. YMMV.

Got the Glock factory extended magazine and had it installed. So far so good no inadvertent releases of the magazine with my IWB Comp Tac M-Tac holster. What a difference, I can actually drop the mag with my right hand without having to rotate the firearm almost 90 degrees. The only thing I did to the release is file/bevel the edges so they aren't sharp.
