Georgia or Florida????

If given a choice, would you get a Georgia GFl or a Fl CWP. I will be retiring in about 5 years and plan to move south to be close to my kids/grandkids. They live in St Mary's, Georgia.... real close to the Florida state line. I can live in either state and still be close to them. I was wondering which is better to live in Fl or Ga as for as concealed carry is concerned. Which is easier to obtain permits? Are L.E.O. more 2A friendly in GA or Fl?

GA. GA law allows for open carry if you see fit. Fl does not. Fl will take you forever and a day to get the permit. GA you get one from the county you reside in.

Welcome to the forum
You can open carry in GA on a FL license.

If you're not going to be traveling a lot, I'd go with GA. Cheaper/Faster, but not recognized by many states due to the lack of a training requirement. Florida's license is recognized by 33 states.
Really depends on other factors too. Ga. has a state income tax, doesn't it? No homestead exemption either, I don't believe.

Researched this a few years ago when my wife was set on moving to the Savannah area because of the eye candy there.
I have my FL. CWP, Dose that mean i can open carry in Ga.???
Is it possible to get both? I mean if you are retiring, get the georgia license, then you have all the time in the world to get the florida license. Well maybe not ALL the time. .....john

My wife and I both have a Florida and New Mexico licence. That way we cover more states. If you live in Georgia there is no reason why you can't also get a Florida licence - now here is the rub - some states will ONLY honor a resident permit from another state - they don't accept non-resident permits. So if you live in and have a Florida permit it is good to go in some places you may never go to such as Colorado, Kansas, the Dakotas come to mind. I don't think these places honor a Georgia resident permit, and they don't honor a Florida Non-resident permit, but they all honor a Florida RESIDENT permit. Confused ? So are most of us - we really need a nationwide permit law, but that will never happen under Obama!

Does that Georgia law specifically prohibit non-holstered concealed carry? What about in a pocket or on an ankle?

Yes, it has to be in a holster if its concealed. As to the ankle, if its in a ankle holster you are okay.
Anyone know if the L.E.O.'s in St Mary's and Kingland, GA are 2A friendly? Do they give you a hard time if you open carry?
