I recently gave a PF-9 for a P-22 Walther. I've had a few ask why:

I had a PF-11 and a PF-9, both of which were traded off. Not that I have an issue with Kel-Tec, far from it, I like their stuff (after the obligatory fluff & buff)..... My Sub-2000 is one of my favorite guns

BUT a Kel-Tec PF-9 is virtually the same dimension as a Glock 26 excepting thickness (width), yet the G26 can hold 13 rounds with a +2 mag extension and one in the pipe, the PF9 held 7+1. The G26 ate any ammo and is almost impervious to abuse, the PF-9 was finicky about ammo and dirt.

I bought the PF9 thinking I'd pocket carry... wrong, still too big for comfortable pocket carry (IMHO). The PF9 hurt the hell out of my hand due to recoil, and my ability to re-acquire suffered as a result. I can "point shoot" the G26 out to ten yards with about a 6" group, The PF9 increased that diameter to double (making a COM 30' shot doubtful, instead of definite).

In short, I'll put up with the extra 0.250" and carry the Glock. Not to mention with the extra capacity, I need not carry a spare mag as I did with the PF9

The Kahr pm9 is a true pocket 9mm.

So is the Rohrbaugh found here:

The g26 is far too big, IMO, to pocket carry [ at least in dungarees with tight pockets ]. I've carried the G26, sometimes a brace of 26's in my two back pockets but they are just too big and heavy fully loaded to be a true pocket gun.

The PM9 and Rohrbaugh 9mm pistols are not the easiest firearms to shoot well. I don't own a Rohrbaugh but I have owned the PM9 for over two years and here's a thread on my site about the guns performance and capabilities if anyone is interested:

Contrarian opinion here AND I love Glocks.

My PF-9 travels in my front pocket (jeans or cargo shorts/pants) all the time. I am comfortable with it, can shoot a tight enough group for my personal security purposes and just kinda like the little thing.

I think the holster I have helps. I have three actually, a plain pocket Uncle Mikes for the loose , cargo stuff and a neat little print negating wallet type from pocket holsters.com for jeans and tighter stuff. I use a Fobus for the range.

All that said, I understand the affection many feel for the "baby"Glock. I guess the Kel-Tec, being American made here in Florida also contributes to my "warm fuzzy feeling" with it.

I have the same holster... well I did, I gave it away with the gun!... BUT I still use my Pocketholsters for the NAA 22 Mag everyday

I actually found myself in this VERY situation in that I purchased the PF-9 and traded it for a Glock 26. I liked how thin the Kel Tec was as one of my modes of carry is IWB. Hence, every inch (or fraction thereof) matters.

I went into the shop looking for a PPS but at the time the demand for the gun was high and there were none in the shop.

The Kel Tec was in stock and I already had a P-32 with which I had good experiences. Unfortunately, my dissatisfaction with the PF-9 began shortly after purchase while at the gun shop's range.

I found the felt recoil to be unpleasantly severe (more tiring on my hand than my Taurus .38 snubby), but worse than that, my accuracy was poor. I'm no expert, but I'm not a bad shot in most other cases. Unfortunately, the PF-9 and I simply could not get along well enough for me to achieve decent groupings.

Further, the trigger reset was long and I found myself short stroking the trigger on quick follow up shots. IMHO this was something I could see myself doing inadvertently in an emergency and this concerned me.

Then, while taking the PF-9 to the range at Shoot Straight, I decided to try a used G26 they had in the rental case. The guy behind the counter gave me 5 rounds to test it with and I was in love with the gun after the first shot. The felt recoil was MUCH less, my accuracy amazed me as I was easily 90% better and my follow up shots were quick without the short stroking issues I had encountered on the PF-9.

I found that the added width was not significantly different than the Kel Tec and I promptly made my trade for a new G26 on the spot. I can honestly say that the difference between the two guns could not have been more noticeable.

I like the Kel Tec Brand, and although IMHO the trigger reset is due to poor design, the gun otherwise does what it is designed to do. The PF-9 provides a cheap (or at least, inexpensive) single stack 9mm in a light package. The problem for me was, that I don't like to practice with that type of gun.

The Glock is more expensive, heavier and slightly thicker, but for me, the confidence that I have with it is priceless and it is my latest and longest term ccw.

I carry it with the quick draw clip as well as a fobus ankle holster without very much difficulty. If I am wearing a jacket, the gun CAN ride in my inside pocket. Although it is a bit heavy and invariably weighs the coat down a bit.
Also, I have carried it in my larger pants pockets, but I am 6' 190lbs and I normally wear business casual or jeans with an untucked button down. My clothes fit me and I cannot pull off the Hawaiian shirt look or baggy cargo pants. When I'm more casual, the G26 rides my 4ish O'clock IWB with the quick draw (LOTS OF GREAT THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THIS MODE OF CARRY). Even with pants that fit, I don't encounter too much discomfort unless I've been wearing it all day.

The Ankle holster is the default when I've got to go tucked in and again, for ankle carry, I can't say more good things about the Fobus brand.

There you have it, I chose the G26 hands down over the PF-9, BUT, its not because I'm looking down on the Kel Tec. I personally avoid light guns in the higher powered calibers when I can, simply because I find the felt recoil unpleasant to practice with.

I believe that I will do in an emergency what I practice to do and hence, even though I'd love to have a .357 airwieght snubby in my pocket, I really won't practice with it enough to perfect my emergency, point shooting.

Thus, I cannot recommend the Glock enough if you feel as I do. (I of course learned the hard way and took the $ on the trade in ;)

Not to jump on the glock bandwagon but....you are comparing apples to grapes....the snappy pf-9 trigger was to much to handle for my wife. she now carries a g-26 not for name but she just shoots it better, hurts her hand less due to the width, higher capacity and she has +p in there.....her groups are a lot tighter when doing point drills.....It's amazing to see her change her purses for the g-26 cause she just likes it more....oh by the way she had a lcp for 3 weeks then sold it same reasons.
