As the title states....I'm looking for recommendations to get one of my pistols checkered on the front and back straps. I don't want to go the grip tape or tire tube route as this is more for "looks", alltho function will be there as well. I don't feel comfortable doing it myself. So, if you know of a good gunsmith with this talent, please feel free to share his/her info. Thanks, Caleb

You can also go on 1911 Forum and read reviews by people who have had the same work done, and possibly find someone within driving distance.

Might want to call out to Okeechobee Shooting sports. They can do some very impressive things out there.

Yes, I have heard Nelson has a steady hand. Will(Standby) gave me a guy's name last year, said he was excellent......I can't find it, hope Will stops in. Might have been Nelson.

Thanks guys, local would be great. I'll call okee on Tuesday unless they are open tomorrow. I remember there was a guy doing engraving out there every so often, but I don't remember his name.

I have gone on some 1911 forums and researching that route.
