New Fan of the site in Lynn Haven

Howdy from Bay County! Great to find this site. I've visited other CC sites that are very interesting, but this one has more stuff that is directly applicable to concealed carry in our great state (laws, temperature and humidity issues, etc.) Glad you guys are around. I'm a former Police Officer and Deputy Sheriff (Montgomery, AL PD and Sheriff's Office), and FBI Certified Firearms Instructor for revolver, semi-auto handgun, shotgun, and SMG. I'm looking forward to learning a lot here.

Welcome Ken.

Did you ever happen to run into Roy Moore while in Montgomery? Just wondering.

Glad you found us. It looks like you have a lot to offer us with all of your experience.

Join right in. Don't wait for someone to ask a question, if you feel you have something to share that we can all learn from then just post it.

Welcome Ken. I'm sure you have a lot to add.

I don't want to scare you off or anything (everyone is welcome) but we keep things pretty clean around here.

I jsut want to go on record stating that I'm no fan of using "FNG" though you are not the only one who has done so. This is just my opinion and I made a decision the last time someone used the term that I would speak up the next time. I've done that now and now I'll drop it

Thanks, Paladin. I had noticed the reference on a few other posts, so I was unaware of the proper protocol. Advise well taken.

MamaBear,
Who did Roy Moore work for? I moved from Montgomery County in '95. I knew a couple of Roys with the PD and a couple with the State Troopers. Can you jog my memory a little.

Thanks for the welcome aboard, y'all.

Actually Roy Moore was the Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court for a season. I asked because he lived in Montgomery at the time so I just figured if you were in law enforcement then you would have heard of him. We were sweethearts for a short season many moons ago. He is still a friend of the family after all these years. It was just a flash back so I thought I'd ask.

Also, thank you for receiving Paladin's words. We are an unusual gun board in that it really is family friendly on the forum. Part of that might be that there is a MamaBear roaming around...[g] just looking for someone to smack back into line but mostly they are quick to respect a woman's presence here knowing that it is also critical that we learn about guns as well in an atmosphere that is not threatening. That doesn't mean we don't discuss deep issues but a lot of the other muck is left for other sites.

You are going to fit right in here so don't hesitate to make yourself at home.

And she will do it to. :rolf

She calls us frat boys and sometime we need that slap from her.

Thanks for not getting offended. We would really love to have your LEO experience contributing to the forums.

Ahhhhhh! THAT Roy Moore! The Justice who refused to remove the Ten Commandments from the State House and elected to loose his job rather than compromise his principles. Unfortunately, I never got a chance to meet the man but I have the greatest of respect for him.

Quick question: In which forum should I post a query about the United States Concealed Carry Association? Don't want to put it in the wrong place.

Also, I tried to edit the title of this thread with no luck.

Yeah, *that* Roy Moore. It was many moons ago but he was a gentleman back then as well. I can remember he was the Assistant DA at the time we were going out with each other. When he came over to pick me up for our first date my dad sat him down and lectured him about how to drive with me in the car with him. I reminded dad that Roy put people in jail and he said he didn't care because those other people weren't taking me out Roy was. Roy received the dad lecture and then we went on our date. Roy is still a friend of the family.

Pick the best spot where you think a thread should go and be done with it. On occasion one will be moved but if you picked the best spot someone will find it and start to answer.

Since you said something let me go see if I can edit that out of your thread title. If I can't get it to work we'll just act like it is not there anymore. [g]

I think I would like your dad. :thumsup

My oldest daughter just turned 16 on 5/5 and that is the age we told her she had to be before she could date. I think I'm going to be a lot like your dad and hope she turns out as well as you seem to have.

Paladin, sometimes it is not the quality of the upbringing that shapes ones character but the grace of God to bring you through the challenges. Mostly what I learned from my dad was how to not raise a child. I'll just leave it at that or we might have to open another thread regarding child rearing.

I can say amen to that. All 4 of my children have been brought up in church since they were 2 weeks old. I tried to raise them right but ultimately I have to just turn them over to God.

I'm blessed that even though they have aggravated me at times none have turned out bad. No one has been in trouble at school or with the law. Must have done something right.:dancingbanana

Thanks to all of y'all. I can tell I'm gonna love this forum. I belong to two others: 6-pack.org that caters to fans of Triumph TR6's and TR250's, and Homebrewtalk.com for all of us nuts that love to make home brewed beer. FLCC is going to be great to get involved in.
Beers y'all,
Ken
