Wait a minute...since when are background checks required on private gun sales? According to that quiz, they are.

I just took the quiz and that question I got wrong also :thumbsdwn. So I hink the best you can get is a 90% score.
A few of the questions were vague or misleading in my opinion, and possibly even wrong according to my understanding.

- Is there a waiting period on gun sales? handguns yes, long guns no

- Are background checks required at gun shows? depends on who the seller is, dealer yes, private sale no

- Are background checks required on 'private' gun sales? no! this one is WRONG

- Do state police and federal NICS perform a background check? vague, when would state police NEED to perform a background check, during traffic stop??? at purchase time NICS does check

Edited to add: Get Jon Gutmacher's book!
I got 100% right. thanks for all the help :rolf

The correct answer to:

Are background checks required on 'private' gun sales?

is:

Yes
I got that one wrong also. I do not think that is correct.
Do state police and federal NICS perform a background check? I missed this one as well as the other one you all are talking about. I wasn't sure what NICS stood for but it didn't look like the FBI letters I was told when Tallahassee told me they sent my fingerprints to the FBI. That is my reasoning on that one.

I'm coming off a head cold and walking around in a fog this morning and that is my excuse. That would never fly if my kids told me that after a quiz but that is my answer.

Therefore, I made 80%.

FYI Mamabear, NICS = National Instant Criminal Background Check System, which is run by the FBI.

Not to be confused with NCIS, which is the National Crime Information System or NCIS, which is the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (and a cool TV show). :D
NICS = National Instant Check System. I've also seen National Instant Criminal Background Check System

I also think the background check on private sales is wrong. For one, I couldn't find anything explicitly stating it was required. For another, how in the heck is a private citizen going to run a NICS check?

90% here also. I got the "private gun sales" one wrong also, but I think their answer is wrong. :smack
Got the private sale question wrong too. Question was too vague :thumbsdwn, do they mean a private sale between two non-FFLs then they are wrong. If they mean a private sale put on by a gun shop then they are right.
Ah well, got a 90% so I can live with that.

And if you have a CCW the waiting period is waived. The most appropriate answer is yes. There are waiting periods but not on all weapons and not for all people.
:dohI got 80%
I missed the one on Gun Locks.
I was under the impression if you buy a new pistol, it must come with some kind of lock. My Glock came with a cable lock, but when i bought my Henry rifle, it did not come with a lock of any kind.
The other one was wrong line of thought. Do you have to have a safety class to buy a gun, i guess i thought about safety class to carry a gun!!!:doh
took it and Got 80%
