Ex-commissioner's gun trial: Miramar ex-commissioner Fitzroy Salesman has been sentenced to 30 days in jail. -- South Florida Sun-Sentinel.com

Hey folks, this happened today in my neck of the woods. What do you all think of the decision? Apparently, the ex commissioner was shopping in a Winn Dixie grocery store, got into an argument with another person in the checkout line, and when the guy asked him if he wanted to take it outside, he went outside, gun in hand. Take a look at the video.

He was convicted to 30 days in jail and one year probation.

Salesman said he drew the weapon after being confronted by Lazavius Hudson, 19, during an argument over Hudson's choice of checkout lines. Salesman said Hudson threatened him by saying, "Let's take it outside."
IMHO, Mr. Salesman needs to have his FLorida Concealed Weapon License revoked, he should have been convicted of the felony as well, he should be setting in prison, and he should never be able to hold public office again.

This is a blatant case of someone being a " Cowboy ". What was he going to do, meet the guy out in the street at high noon and " have it out "?

This is the type of guy who will do something stupid that will give the rest of us a bad reputation.

+1. The question at the start of the thread was "what would you do"? The answer is that what you wouldn't do is start brandishing a firearm. If this guy felt threatened inside the store, he should have asked for the management to step in, or called the police.

Sad part is that this one person's terrible judgment is a direct reflection on the 100,000 other honest law abiding concealed carriers no one every hears about. More ammo for the left to use against us.
Not good

He got off light. He should have lost his CCW for that incident. This will come back to hurt us all.

Call me an optimist, but I prefer to look at this incident as reflecting poorly on politicians (not that my opinion of most could get any lower), and that this shows that it is our elected officials who can't be trusted with guns. :D

Hi Deadeyedick. By the way, I love your signature. That's great and very funny.
Regarding the thread. You are too logical AND it will be the politicians who come after us. They are not cannibals, they won't look at each other to point out the obvious. They are part of the reason that I now am choosing to carry a concealed weapon.

Ditto, Deadeye:

90% of politicians are not worth the air they breathe, yet they get preferential treatment and special privileges.

We need to vote all of them out and install term limits.
That sounds great! The term limits sounds awesome. How can somebody, up there for twenty year, possibly know what we want and need? All long term limits allow is for him/her to get to know the special interest groups and to learn how to work the system:mad:.
Regarding the kick 'em all out, I used to think the same thing but now I've decided the politicians are not the problem. They are just a symptom of the sickness. THE GENERAL POPULATION OF OUR COUNTRY IS THE SICKNESS. Somebody voted Barney Frank and the others into office over and over and over again! U.S. citizens voted these guys into office, yuk! As a country, we've lost our moral compass. We've taken God out of our schools, out of our government and out of our business...how's that working for us:thumbsdwn? The Bible says if you want to prosper, be faithful in the small and be faithful with another man's:dancingbanana. This is not sexy. It is not a get rich quick plan and it seems to no longer be the American way. But it works. Our current economic meltdown is heavily driven by straying from these basics that made our country great.
We need to get back to the basics:thumsup. It will take two generations to fix the problem. Kind of like McDonald's marketing to kids who grow up and take their kids to McDonald's. Laws won't change anything. Only honest people obey them. The other's; immoral, criminal, the "entitled" or "you owe me" won't follow these laws and the sickness will continues.
Sorry about the rant! I could go on and on but I'm sure some will be thankful that I don't:drinks!

Not to derail the political conversation, but this needs to be brought to everyones attention. Mr. Salesman does not have a concealed weapons permit. He never did. He was upset that he was standing in line at a Winn Dixie the night before Thanksgiving and they only had one or two cash registers open. He then picked out the two younger men and told them that they should be in an express lane because they only had a few items. One of the younger men spoke back, they exchanged words, and then the younger man asked Mr. Salesman if he wanted to "take it outside". Mr. Salesman then showed his weapon. In my opinion, he got off lightly. Had this been anyone BUT a politician, they would not have gotten off lightly. The media has done a bad job of getting the facts straight and they have not informed the public that he was a cowboy WITHOUT a concealed weapons permit, so the general public assumes that he did have a permit and that permits are a bad idea. It is incidents like this that give those of us who lawfully and respectfully carry a very bad rap.
I'm done now, happy Friday everyone.

GOSH YES!
Have you ever noticed that when two people who both truly love the Lord (not talking about religion, but honestly want to serve and please our great God) meet, it is like they've known each other their entire life? If you are not deeply religious, you probably could change the loved subject (don't really know?) and the thought would still work.
Anyway, I went shooting this morning (in the rain). I target shot ten rounds, then one handed strong and weak six rounds, off handed two hands four rounds, present and fire multi taps twenty rounds and for the first time shot from the hip at nine feet for eight rounds. The shooting from the hip (left handed) meant I took a beating from the extracted spent shells. The muzzle blast also added a wonderful element (kidding).
I go to the range once a week but if I was anymore average, you wouldn't be able to see me if I stood by a wall papered wall:).
I am VERY safety oriented.
Want to go shooting some time? We can kill a lot of paper.
