I know that nobody likes to sweat all over the gun, but have U ever carries "mexican" style, (no holster)?

any thoughts

I Have to admit, I have and still do once in awhile...when I'm to lazy to gear up or going into hot zone where things could get real ugly real fast..The old mexican style used to tie a string around the lanyard ring and either wrap it in a belt loop or over their neck...not alot different than carrying Appendix style in a holster. Usually only do it when I'm taking the trash out, making a little quick trip to the stop and rob etc...but never all day long..

I've carried mexican [ no holster appendix carry ] on occasion. I'll likely carry the S+W 640-1 with the hip grip that way nowadays. It's used as a second gun for the most part at this point though.

Years ago while working in bad areas in the summer heat in just a t shirt, I'd also carry two J frame smiths mexican, one on each side of the belt buckle. T shirt could be tucked in and untucked/bloused over the grips, so people would think you were unarmed. I don't find many guns that comfortable for mex carry, but the j frame snubs work great and don't cause problems with sitting while driving, etc due to their short barrels.

I've taken guns out of their normal holsters and thrown them into mex style carry when I thought the gun play might be inevitable or when a situation dictated I have a hand on a gun before any festivities began.

my daily carry is a glock. I don't feel comfortable "going mexican" with a sidearm that has no external safety. Many do however has no prob with is - hence the development of the "ClipDraw" - not just not my cup 'a tea....

One of the most important things a good holster does is prevent something from entering the trigger guard and potentially pressing the trigger. "Mexican" carry does not mitigate that risk.

And carrying a gun like that with the muzzle pointed at my meat and potatoes just seems like an incredibly stupid idea to me.

A J frame with a 10-12 pound DA trigger pull isn't going to go off at appendix carry while mex carrying it, neither is a 1911 with a cocked and locked hammer and grip safety.

On the other hand, guns like glocks should not be mex carried for obvious reasons.

So it depends on the gun being carried mex style as to the danger one faces of the gun firing while so situated.

cross draw

I carry my .45 commander, locked and loaded mexican style cross draw putting the possible discharge away from my leg...or other parts,...but would be a hell of a powder burn if it do go off.

I like knowing that I have it....and when I sit down its pointed behind me.

I also carry my Beretta 92-FS mexican style, chambered, safety on.

Now my Glock goes in a holster.........31, .357 SIG. Would not carry this with one in the chamber Mexican style.

I am currently carrying my Kahr CW9 in a quasi-mexican manner. I have it in an open top and open bottom soft synthetic holster with no clip of any sort. Its a really cheap holster that the clip sucked on so I removed it. The holster covers up most of the gun and most importantly, snugly covers the trigger. The main problem is when I draw (if its at 4:30 and deeply concealed and canted) it keeps the holster on the gun. However, if its at 3-3:30 and not canted it will leave the holster wedged between my hip and belt, but I can only carry this way with large button down shirts. With both methods the gun stays and doesnt move and is also very comfortable.

I carry my Combat Commander .45acp Mexican style a lot.

I have an inside the belt holster, but sometimes it is quicker for me to just place in the "small of my back", put on a shirt and leave it untucked and go. I have been doing this since the late 70's and have not shot my butt off yet! :rolf

I do not carry Mexican or AKA Plaxico style for the same reason Plaxico should not have.
