anyone know if you can carry anywhere on Disney Property? im sure you can't carry IN the parks, but what about the non-park areas like Downtown Disney, etc?

Carry in Florida's theme parks is perfectly legal. Disney does cursory bag searchs at the gate...that's about it.

Now for some :popcorn and :drinks...
True, but if your weapon is spotted at any point, you'll probably be asked to leave. At that point you must leave. If you're there with family and friends, are you prepared to have the day ruined? Or is the risk so high that you feel that you must carry there?

Life is full of these little trade-offs.
Personally i don't feel the need to carry in disney or any of the theme parks well maybe pocket carry lol
I have to agree with Steve. I won't take mine to Disney. You're there to have fun, not spend all day wondering if you are showing or worrying about flashing someone when the wind hits your shirt.
yea, I wouldn't feel the need to carry at the parks, but downtown disney can get kinda harry. I saw a guy get tazered there once!

tazered by whom?
I'm all for having fun, but if you think that the BGs aren't in the park or anywhere on Disney property or that security can handle it or " It can't happen here" good luck. I hope it never does, however I'm not willing to bet on it. Disney is a perfect target for nut jobs and terrorists.
Agreed. I would never suggest that a theme park is inherently safe. It's simply a matter of risk levels and which risks you're prepared to take.
I love that I'm back to front pocket carry.

Let's see... not listed in Ch 790... yup, good to go cause no one will know!

(except y'all!) :drinks
I've carried at Universal and Disney parks on multiple occasions without incident. Just don't go goobering it up and revealing that you're packing. :smack
When to carry

Ok guys think about it ... when are you supposed to wear a seat belt? Only when you are on the interstate doing 75 or is it possible to get t-boned near your house? If you are at a Disney theme park you are not likely to get mugged there but you do have to get there and back. What about a road rage idiot on the way there or a late night stop at a Sub-Way on the way home (read July/August issue of Handgunner "The Marine vs. Thugs"). You might not get confronted at Bloomingdales but what about in the parking lot. Have you read about tourists going to their hotel rooms after a day at Disney only to be pushed into the rooms and robbed at gunpoint ... I have. When are you supposed to carry ... only when you can determine that you are going to get mugged and where ... or always?

respectfully,
billygun
here are the official rules:

weapons are not allowed :(

I always suspected it, but never saw it written down before. Maybe its written somewhere within the micro print on the ticket.
Rules, shmules...besides, that's Disneyland.

They also prohibit cremated remains and pots and pans. :rolf
Sounds like a good reason to never go to Disney again. I guarantee their rules would change if people stop going because of idiotic rules. Of course Felons/BGS will be the first ones to obey the so called " Rules ".

Walking out of my front door every morning is risk enough that I carry. Why would Disney or anyplace else, for that matter be any different? I just don't understand the logic. A lot of bad things happen at Disney and the other parks, inside and in the parking lots. You just don't ever hear much about it.

Besides, if you're caught, they more than likely are not going to kick you out (unless you're being an ass). They'll tell you to take it to the car, or they'll take you to security and lock it up for you while you're there.

You're absolutely right, Steve. Life is full of trade-offs, and folks need to choose and decide things for themselves.

I made my choices a long time ago.

I've carried in all of the parks without incident....and I'll step off by saying that in all of those times, there were two instances where I was damn glad I did.

Tell us more, RCR.
Steve, there are some things even I won't discuss on an open forum. Suffice to say that two of the times I've drawn a weapon in self-defense were on theme-park property...one inside Universal, the other in the parking lot at Busch Gardens.

Granted, both were a lot of years ago, but I don't think things have gotten any better in all this time.
Okay, so you didn't draw on Disney property then.

I personally consider the Disney parks to be safer than my mall. I don't take my gun into them.

Rvrctyrngr is correct about them not kicking a person out. There are lockers at the front for this exact purpose. If you don't act like a moron, you'll be asked to secure it.

Weapons are not allowed on any of Disney's 22 square miles. An email exchange will tell you this. They don't make an issue of it. They do not allow weapons in the rooms of the Disney resorts. They'll be happy to tell you that, as well.

BUT: there are no metal detectors, no body searches, no nosy questions. It could be said that those rules are there to limit Disney's liability in case of a problem, or to create warm fuzzies for the sheep who visit.

You weigh your risks, and use discretion as needed. Right? After all, concealed is concealed.

Can't argue with that. :thumsup

Live and learn. I would not have expected that.
