Being a disabled CCw holder I was curious to see how many others might also be disabled and be in the central Fl area.
If there are any and would like to talk about Techniques that they have found that work for them or that may need help, why not get together and help one another out.Hit each other up if your interested

Sounds like a great idea. I'm not disabled, I do walk with a limp from a motorcycle accident 23 years ago. But this should make for an interesting topic. :thumsup

Hey I know I have to live off a fixed income, doesn't leave alot of $$$ to enable me to get the professional training I would like and know I need! I was able to get personally tutored several days by Paul Castle in his C.A.R. System @Sabretactical which helped me tremendously since I cannot use the weaver or isosceles stances with out it causing me pain or difficulty and the C.A.R. Technique really worked for me with no problem.**(My Personal thanks to Paul he's a hell of a guy) so I'm sure there's training we can all share with each other to enable us to get more proficient.
Lets face it,we have to help each other, not to may places are willing to give us any reduced rate or free lunch in any training and on a fixed income we can't really afford to pay for the professional training we need,so what the heck,if I can show someone in a wheel chair a technique that works for him he didnt know about,we all win.He might just be able to show me something I didnt know!

This is a big issue. There are many people out there with conditions that limited the way they carry concealed, and basic training doesn't cover their circumstances. I would hope that as this issue gtes more attention and awareness, more people step up to help.

I'd be interested in meeting with some people in the C Florida area some time to share techniques some time. I have some weakness in my left hand so I am always interested in new ways to rack the slide and reload more quickly.

Mr. Buckley, Do you think there would be enough interest in putting on a course for these people? I'll step up to the plate if there's enough interest to bring the Integrated Threat Focused Training Systems to the area.

I've already been involved with disabled and/or physically challenged people on an individual basis here in Az.

I don't know. The population is fragmented. let's see who posts here. I think the subject heading of this thread is enough to bring people in. Thanks for the offer, sir. I'll mention the idea to the local veterans' group when I speak with them.

Excellent topic! I'm sure there are many of us here who could use specific tips or hints to cope with certain limitations we may have. For example, I wear glasses. Should I have to get up in the middle of the night to an intruder, there might not be time to grab both firearm AND glasses. I'm not totally blind without them, but, my vison is blurry enough without them that I'd likely have trouble getting the sights aligned properly, particularly in low light, even with the night sights I have. I have a flashlight, but, in the end, I want to be able to deal with a low light encounter without it...just in case. I don't want my families safety to rely on something that could burn out, have dead batteries or be dropped/lost in that critical moment. :thumsup

One of those things that worry me at times. I keep my glasses beside the bed, and I have no less than two spares I can get my hands on in various parts of the house, but, in a SHTF scenario, there just may not be the time for them.

Hi. I'd like to join this crowd. My handicap is arthritis and old age (I'll be 75 in Sept.) I've been shooting for 65 years, started in a high school team back in the 40's (there were many high school teams then, even in NY city). Started handguns in 1956 and shot in many club leagues for 40 years. I can't run anymore and can only walk about a block without sitting for awhile.

It's hell getting old but I still like to bust a cap once in awhile (shot 130 rounds through my AR carbine and 30 through my Les Baer Stinger today--all sitting down today--great fun, much better than a rocking chair).
