This is a 911 recording of a man breaking into a house while the woman is on the phone with 911 waiting for the police to arrive. What are the lessons to be learned from this. Click Here to Listen

Wife says..."Don't hang on the line with 911."

Call them...explain your situation and what your situation is...and then call back once the situation is under control.

Wife says that she bets that will get them there more quickly anyway... ;)

How'd you happen to find that link? Just wondering as it links to a news service near my childhood home.

Goodness!! I wonder just how the cops would have found her if she was not able to defend herself. This all happened within two- three minutes. Wow!!!
Exactly.
I'm relieved and surprised that the 911 operator didn't try to convince her to refrain from defending herself...and as horrific as it may have been...I'm glad that the woman lived somewhere where she could gain quick access to a firearm to protect herself...there are many areas in the US that do not "allow" their "citizens" that luxury.

Normally incidents happen this quick or quicker.

Response time can vary from situation to situation. If the officers are nearby ( city police ) their response time may arrive in time. If they are farther away ( sheriff department ) response time can be 15 to 30 minutes away.

When I was a LEO, I told my friends that the motto of " To protect and serve " can sometimes mean " I will get there as soon as I can, be able to hold them off until I arrive. "

If she had not been able to defend herself, the police would have found her either assaulted, raped, or murdered. In any case none would have been as acceptible as was the actual outcome.

+1 for the lady to have the common sense to arm herself, and the will to use it to defend herself. :pistols

Horrible thing for her to have to go through, lowlife my be out of the picture but she is left with all kinds of grief. It's lucky for her she was able to defend herself.
