My 9 yr old daughter swims competitively with a city sponsored team. She practices 4 days a week at the city pool. Im trying to determine if I can carry when I go poolside to pick her up.

I'm new to CCW and am trying to do the right thing. I'm also a greenhorn on the forum scene, so please forgive any obvious stupidity!!! Thanks for the input.

Do you have a CWFL?
Is the pool at a school or any of the other places listed below?

790.06 License to carry concealed weapon or firearm.--

any police, sheriff, or highway patrol station;

any detention facility, prison, or jail;

any courthouse;

any courtroom, except that nothing in this section would preclude a judge from carrying a concealed weapon or determining who will carry a concealed weapon in his or her courtroom; any polling place;

any meeting of the governing body of a county, public school district, municipality, or special district;

any meeting of the Legislature or a committee thereof;

any school, college, or professional athletic event not related to firearms;

any school administration building;

any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, which portion of the establishment is primarily devoted to such purpose;

any elementary or secondary school facility;

any career center;

any college or university facility unless the licensee is a registered student, employee, or faculty member of such college or university and the weapon is a stun gun or nonlethal electric weapon or device designed solely for defensive purposes and the weapon does not fire a dart or projectile;

inside the passenger terminal and sterile area of any airport, provided that no person shall be prohibited from carrying any legal firearm into the terminal, which firearm is encased for shipment for purposes of checking such firearm as baggage to be lawfully transported on any aircraft;

It is not related to any school, nor is adjacent to any school. It is a city league at a city pool/facility. There are no signs about firearms. There is just something eating at me about "kids sporting event", though it is just practice & "city facility". I do have my CCW. Thanks!

If it is not on the official state list of prohibited sites, then you should carry. The gun should stay in the holster, on your belt. The relocation of the gun from place to place as you make your rounds is not the best choice.

Signs prohibiting firearms carry no legal weight in Florida...

I think you are refering to the following restriction:

any school, college, or professional athletic event not related to firearms
And you said "It's not related to any school"

You're good to carry....

I hope that I am not out of line here, but it looks like you can carry, If you are at a public pool and the sessions are not school sponsored, and you are clear of the other legal restrictions in 790, then it is fine to carry.

Signs are "no good", but I sometimes worry that our police do not know this and jail can be an ugly place. even if just for a brief period of time while the State Attorney's Office brushes up on the law.
