Redundant Pop-Up

Users are offered choice selections in their Profiles for Alerts and Push Notifications, the latter apply only if using a mobile device. If we are using a NON-Mobile device and have selected Push Notifications off, why do we keep getting a pop-up each time we read the first topic of our visit that asks us to turn on push notifications? The options are yes or no, how about adding another that says "Don't ask again."

I cannot get new posts. I click NEW and a page appears with new posts across the top but it says no new items. Am I doing something wrong or is it the program "maturing"?

If you have no unread posts you won't see any posts using the NEW icon. You would need to switch to the Popular (active topics) tab.

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking so I am going to start from scratch here to see if I can help.

How To Find New Posts

Near the upper right-hand corner of the community, you will see navigation icons.

The first icon is for what’s new on the site.

Clicking on it, by default, will take you to new unread posts.

On that page, you can click on additional tabs as well, such as Popular, if you prefer to view active topics. You can also mark all as read.

I have a question about New posts and Mark All Read. Suppose I click the New button and I get a list of 20 posts. I read some of them and after about 10 minutes I click Mark All Read. Do only the posts in my New list get marked or do all posts, including some that may have been posted since I pushed New button (that I haven't seen yet), get marked?

If you click on Mark All Read in the NEW post section it marks every post in the community as read for you.

Boiler Room Access -

I know this is being worked on but I ran into another unusual thing tonight. When I am using my mobile device (iPhone) I can see all topics in the Boiler Room whether I'm logged in or logged out. Using my PC, I can only see them when logged in, which I believe is the correct way the settings ought to work.

So, Cricket, I don't know how familiar you were with how the old forum settings went but the entire Boiler Room and subforums were invisible to anyone NOT logged in. Once logged in and the appropriate opt-in permission boxes were selected by the user in the user's profile settings, then they could view whichever ones they chose to see. When they logged out again, they would not be visible.

This appears to be something with the mobile settings, maybe a cookie is jammed sideways in the gear train, I dunno.

I just double-checked from my iPhone and the Boiler Room is not displaying unless I log in. (They show logged in for me because I have permissions for it.)

I just double checked it myself and it works correctly. I noticed it because I have Dark Mode selected as a preference and that only works if I'm logged in, otherwise white screen. I saw all Boiler Room topics listed on a white screen, and verified I had no avatar visible at top right, just the blank head that shows as a profile button before log in.

I don't know what happened, it seems to work fine now. Two tries no problems.

OK; after however many days we’ve been inflicted with the “new, improved forum,” I still don’t see the “General Discussion” thread in The Boiler Room.

We went to the moon 50 something years ago, and y’all can’t work this $hit out?

Someone call me when the never-ending ads clear out and the forum is at least 50% of what it used to be before the “improvements.”

On your behalf I asked FCC Admin to check and correct your Boiler Room settings, which you'll only see when your logged in. Unlike the old forum, there's no "user selectable" settings and can only be changed by FCC Admin.

If you mean the "Word Association Game" thread, it's in The Boiler Room "General Discussion" section where it was before the transition to the new forum S/W. Are you one of the members who suddenly cannot see the sections in The Boiler Room and the sections in it after the transition? Is so, then either you or I can start a "Conversation" (formerly known as a PM) to FCC Admin to get your permissions for The Boiler Room fixed (no longer user selectable).

Can I get more information from you?

Were the examples you posted in a section that requires logging in to view it? If so, this is a known bug that should be resolved shortly.

If they were in a section that does not require login in to view, can you tell me what method you used to upload the image?

In all cases I click the "insert image (Ctrl+P)" icon. Then choose either upload image or By URL
In the random thread when I post using "upload image" from my computer the pic shows in my edit screen then posts the small icon and numbers.
