I have seen the word used several times.... What the heck is the meaning?

COM = Center Of Mass... ie, the mid torso area, where you would ideally place your shots to maximize your chances of immediately stopping an attack..

It's an acronym, not a word...it stands for Center Of Mass (what you should be aiming for on a BG).
