How many members have been formerly trained in acquiring various choke holds on others?
How many members have been formally trained in how to escape various choke holds?

Ever used one of the choke holds to subdue an antagonist/aggressor in a street altercation?

Not me and therefore would not attempt for fear of resulting negative consequences unless it was my only option to end a threat out of a reasonable fear that my life or those I have a duty to protect were in danger.

You were shown the triangle and carotid choke in the H2h/blade courses a few times. We didn't practice them much because of the risks involved

I have been trained on blood and air chokes.

I have applied them in class to the point just shy of the person slumping. Never needed to use in a street application.

I’m not a fan of air chokes because of the potential damage and never really spent much time with them for that reason.

We did train on how to get out of them once applied. Hint…you have to act quickly as time is not on your side and your gonna get sleepy really quickly if you don’t move fast. 😆

YMMV.

Yup, getting out of a choke-hold is mostly what I'm interested in and thought that was what I remember taking from brownie's H2H/Edged Weapon courses taken at Lake Mary! 🤠

Yes, but I've never had to use either.

Yup, we covered the counters more than the chokes themselves. If you're going to learn one or the other, the counters would be my choice.

Yes . You taught us during H2H / Blade courses. Partner had to tap out. Never used on the street. Multiple counters.

Yes, trained in the hold and used it a few times when overpowered and no other means to restrain was available, Yes, trained in escape but never saw anyone break free of a choke hold when properly applied.

The style I learned is long out of favor, back in Judo Class in my one semester of college education, c. 1969.

Geoff
Who notes he learned to kill with his bare hands and read on the bus. Education I have not had to practice since, all though reading on airplanes may have some association.
The last time I tried putting someone in a choke hold, I was tossed onto the ground like a discarded rag.

Fortunately, the can of mace wound up being more effective in that situation.
