I've been looking for the laws about carrying on school property and find some conflicting statutes. I pick my children up from school every day but never leave my car. Just drive up to the school, they put the kids in the car and I drive away. Can I keep my weapon on me concealed, or do I have to go home and drop it off first, pick up the kids then go back home to get my gun?

You are okay to keep the gun on you as long as you do not get out of the vehicle or if you get out of the vehicle, the gun has to be left in the vehicle.

790.115 Possessing or discharging weapons or firearms at a school-sponsored event or on school property prohibited; penalties; exceptions.--

(2)(a) A person shall not possess any firearm, electric weapon or device, destructive device, or other weapon as defined in s. 790.001(13), including a razor blade or box cutter, except as authorized in support of school-sanctioned activities, at a school-sponsored event or on the property of any school, school bus, or school bus stop; however, a person may carry a firearm:

3. In a vehicle pursuant to s. 790.25(5); except that school districts may adopt written and published policies that waive the exception in this subparagraph for purposes of student and campus parking privileges

What about a non-goverment school, for example a private shool on church property, i.e. church land that is being utilized by a school during certain hours of certain days and is in no way owned or operated by the Empire (Imperial Government).

Perhaps this is a legal question which could be argued in a courtroom in the event it were to become an issue. My glib reading of the statute seems to be to be vague as to what a school is defined as... and a "private study area" on church grounds may be acceptable under Florida Statute?

I welcome opinions on this point. Thank you.

...

P.S. Pelosi is a VERY attractive weasel... as far as rodents go.

For the purposes of this section, "school" means any preschool, elementary school, middle school, junior high school, secondary school, career center, or postsecondary school, whether public or nonpublic.

Is that a legal opinion or has that clarity already been provided in law?
If so, I haven't seen your definition of "school" so delineated; please direct me.

Does the law so specify a "non-public bible study" held in a person's home to still count as a school?
How about such study being held in a hotel conference hall?
How then does that differ from such study being held in a private church?
How then is that different than ANY study being held at a private church (preschool)?
Or a home-schooling situation in one's pivate home; during school hours my home is now a school? According to the above logic the answer would be yes. Since that is insane, I must yet ask for a legal opinion or existing juditial/legislative clarity.

Thanks.

The info he provided is not his opinion, it is the law.

If you are asking where you can carry, you must have a concealed carry license. Before you could get that license you had to indicate on the application that you were fimilar with statute 790 but in case you are not being a smart : censored and you really want to know.

You can be directed to f.s. 790.115 Possessing or discharging weapons or firearms at a school-sponsored event or on school property prohibited; penalties; exceptions

You cant be serious

Just because you learn something does not mean you are at school. I have learned a lot from this forum, but that does not mean I have to take my gun off before I start reading because I am somehow all of the sudden in school

it does not

I dont feel in my opinion that you should carry your gun to a church that has preschool during school hours. just my HO

WOW! : censored

:sorry INAL, was just quoting the definition of 'school' in the criminal code. :smack

Try this on for size, then contact an attorney if you think you need to...
It applies to public schools, but you get an idea...

1003.01(2) "School" means an organization of students for instructional purposes on an elementary, middle or junior high school, secondary or high school, or other public school level authorized under rules of the State Board of Education.

Thank you for the clarity brboyer.

Don't know why Farmer Glock (above) has to be a : censored... I guess he doesn't like newbies showing up to his party. And no, sir, at no time was I joking. There's no such thing as a dumb question, only dumb answers (your example above).

Welcome to the forum theadrock13 :drinks
