Does anyone have a recommendation on what's the best way to carry while driving. I normally carry at about 3:30 and its fine when you are outside the vehicle. However when I'm seated I can't really draw the weapon effectively or quickly. Is it better to just have my weapon in the center console or in the glove box?

I find that my center console works best for me. I'm used to having it there from when I did not have my weapons permit and just had it in my car and at home. I had to clean out all the crap from the console and left some dunkin donuts napkins in it to cover my gun when I leave it in the vehicle. I just flip the console up and leave it open if I'm in a bad neighborhood. Dont know if that's legal though. :D

The having it IN the console...or having the console flipped open?

Having it in the console is legal.
Having it flipped open is technically not legal if it is not within another "closed" case of some sort...
That said...I often did the same thing prior to obtaining my CWP. It's only prudent.

Legal or not...it makes sense and goes hand in hand with BEING in Condition Yellow to be more prepared if you are in a questionable area. (and it is not possible to avoid being in that area)

The truck that I drive has enough room to allow me to carry at exactly 3:00 with my holster canted slightly. I also put my shirt between my skin and the handle of the weapon. Sometimes the center console is just better and can be easily opened if the situation gets bad. You just have to be aware of your surroundings.

According to the law, if I have a CCW, and I'm in a vehicle, which applies:

1) I can conceal "off-body" in an open but concealed center console
2) The CCW doesn't apply to vehicles and it has to be "enclosed and not readily accessible"

I'm confused.

Thanks

If you have a ccw permit you can carry two ways in a car. 1) In a closed container (not neccesarily locked). It could be a cardboard box with a cover.
2) On your person in a holster.
Florida law allows it to readily accessible but in a closed container or holster.
You can't have it on the seat or the dashboard.
