Canik Number Four

Same old story. I had a dentist appointment this morning, and stopped at “the other” LGS when I was in Brooksville. Aand; they had a new Canik that I liked.

It’s a METE SFT; same as the Miami Nights and desert tan ones that I have, with the same old great trigger pull and reset.

I don’t really know what to call this one, Patriotic, or “We the People,“ I guess:

Air gun Wood Trigger Gun barrel Revolver
Air gun Trigger Wood Gun barrel Gun accessory

Basic color is OD green.

Thanks y’all; glad you like it/them. 😁

I’ll shoot it, and a .380 that wandered in recently, tomorrow at the open range.

I missed IDPA practice today because of the dentist appt. I cancelled the September appointment because it was also on a Thursday. They’re so busy that appointments are made six months ahead of time, and they haven’t taken on any new patients since well before the covid fiasco. They’ll call me with the first cancellation they get around that time.

So; no more scheduling of anything on Thursdays; unless it’s after noon. 👍
I “need” to both shoot and play guitar/sing every week to keep myself “in balance”… 🤣

What 380 did you get?

Here’s a review on the Canik METE SFT, done by “The Truth About Guns:”

What 380 did you get?

A Ruger LCP Max that has 10 round mags. I believe that they make higher capacity mags for the pistol, but since it’ll be an “in the pocket-holster house gun;” I don’t want extended mags for it.
It also came with a white dot tritium front sight, and a higher profile rear sight. They’re much better than the sights on the standard LCPs, and the ones on my .22 LR LCP II.

I’ve heard nothing but good reviews of that one.

Looks good, Rick. They must be hell of a good pistols if you have four of them. Now you've got me lookin'.

Yes, they are.

The Rival is tops for range, training and matches.
The other three are all the same model, different finishes, and a slide/barrel that’s 1/2” shorter than the rival; 4.5”. That said; the trigger pulls and resets are very, very close to that of the Rival.

The 1/2” shorter length does make for a bit easier carry; that’s only 1/4” longer than a Commander sized 1911. Of course they’re a little wider than a 1911, and a good bit lighter. Then when you add in all the other stuff that’s included with the pistols; it's a great deal. Actually, even if they only came with one mag and no extras; because of their prices they’d still be a good deal. 👍

One of the extras they come with is a removable aluminum mag well that looks really good on the pistols. I don’t mount them on mine because first; they’re not necessary, and; if I mount a magwell on the gun, that classifies it as an enhanced service pistol (ESP), which has an allowed capacity of 10+1 rounds in the gun; without the mag well, the gun classifies as a stock service pistol (SSP), which has an allowed capacity of 16+1 rounds in the gun. I also think that for carry; the mag well might make it print a little bit more; but I haven’t tried it.

EDIT: I should have noted that the classifications above are based on IDPA equipment rules. Sorry.

They all use the same standard 18 round flush fit mags, and the METE SFT models come with two 18 round mags like the Rival, but those models come with a “+2” base plate added to one of the 18 rounders. So I carry an 18 rounder in the gun, with a 20 rounder for a reload.

Yep! I own 4 Glocks as well. G19, G43, and two G42's. The Caniks are starting to catch me eye though due to the grip angle and good reviews.

Enough! You are going to cost me more or my retirement nest egg… But, I was thinking about a Mete SF to join my recently purchased Rival (what a great gun/amazing trigger). Any experience with or insight on the SF, Rick?

All three of mine other than the Rival are METE SFTs.
Is the SF something different? The SFTs use the same 18 round mags that the Rival does.
I know they make some smaller models; but I wanted pistols that use those same 18 round mags.

The SF has a little shorter barrel (slightly over 4”) and grip. According it comes with 15 round mags. However, the SFT mags will fit with some “overhang.” The SFT would probably scratch my itch, too.

I carried one while out for several hours today. Yesterday too…
