Does anyone have a list of suggested readings regarding CCW and self defense. I looked up in Amazon and the only name I recognized was Mr. Ayoob. I would like to avoid books with bad advice if possible.

Thanks

IMVHO, a lot of gun/ammo/defense publications have a hidden agenda of selling you something, yet many have some good information.

As in life, our defensive needs and capabilities are diverse. Unfortunately, what might be good for me might not be for you, and vice-versa. I read a lot and have to sort through the garbage to find the gems. You need to decide for yourself what is garbage and what is a gem.

Not specifically a book on self defense, but definitely a book every Concealed Carrier should have.

Drbarbara,

One of my absolute favorite things to do is to go to Barnes & Noble or Borders (or similar bookstore), pick out several magazines or books, get a large coffee, and find a comfortable seat. If what you read is interesting and you find it valuable then buy it to finish reading or for reference. I like the try it before you buy it method.

People there are also interesting. I saw one older gentleman sitting at a table reading. He had on one of those safari/photographer's vests. I stared at him for a minute trying to determine if he had a gun hidden in there somewhere. He looked up and caught me. I just sorta nodded and he had a wry smile as if he knew what I was thinking. Ya just never know....

In my opinion it is imperative that a Concealed Weapon License holder know the Florida law of Justifiable Use of Force.

This is the letter of the law which tells you what is legal and what is not when it comes to who, what, when, where, how, why and IF it is justifiable to use your weapon against another. :thumsup
