Looks like the he/she has a knife in her back pocket as a backup to the axe.

I might strike a conversation with her at the counter, but he/she'd be allowed to go ahead of me, being the gentleman I am. I'd not be taking my eyes off her for a second if she was in striking range which she was. Not in todays world anyway

This is an old one. Pretty sure this was posted and discussed on here before.

Keep an eye on a person with a weapon and when they go back to start their swing, step in and close the distance. Get off the power arc of the weapon.

He had enough notice to just close and defeat the swing. Just another average person with little to no h2h skills as well lacking SA and forethought

ETA: He/she may end up in a coma or worse if I lost it like I did with the kid with the bat in a parking lot long ago. Adrenaline puts me in fight or flight, usually fight mode. Trying to kill me is not your best decision if you don't take me out before I can respond.

If I've gone a little overboard and the courts believe I need to be reined in, fine, take me to the VA and put me on some drug to suppress the documented PTSD for a few months. The PTSD is only kicked in when someone tries to kill me. The response is automatically with prejudice.

I'm a peaceable personality with the ability to let loose the dogs of war when threatened. There's degrees of fear, put me in enough imminent jeopardy, who knows how that will present in a response. I know it's happened before, which means it could easily happen again

So, I think I should expound on what I was talking about in another one of the "befores".

One of my best buddies, and also a PI [ we'd done a lot of work together ] and two of his friends who I knew were at a major yearly event fair in a large city one night to catch the 4th fireworks. We've found a good spot not crowded where we were n a hill that wouldn't have attendees in front of us blocking the views of takeoffs.

My bud decides he's going to drop a cherry bomb at my feet for sheets and giggles as he knows I come off the ground at unexpected loud noises, especially sounds of explosions. He's know this as he's seen my reaction several times to those very things.

They all step back just a little, and it goes off. I'm instantly in fight or flight, PTS has kicked in Fing big time. About the time I was back on terra firma, I'd taken him to the ground, had mounted him and was choking the life out of him. His two buds pulled me off in time, but his larynx had already been damaged and he needed medical attention. Medicals were all over the fair, one of his buds ran to find one.

While I was standing over him and had my wits about me back, I whispered ever so softly, "don't ever do that again". And he never did either. Remember he was one of my best buds as we'd been through a few things together in the "biz".

Thus, it can happen at anytime anywhere someone is trying to kill me rfn and the PTS kicks in.

Just saying, it has nothing to do with my normally jovial personality 🤫

HE is a HE. There is no her in that thing.
You can see they are having words right before the attack. Then dude turns his back on a tranny with an axe in 7-11. Dismissed his adversary and paid dearly for it. So did the other victim. Musta been a dull axe because clean swings like that with a sharp one woulda taken their heads off.
And I love how they call what looks like a normal axe a ‘battle axe’.
Had it been black instead of red it woulda been an ‘assault axe’ instead and even deadlier!

I'd still prefer to refer them folks as he/she's 😯

Next time in Lowes, I'll ask if they have battle axes, that's likely where the one she had came from :D

Back around 77, I got into a pickle with the local gendarmes when my wife and I were walking the beach at P town [ end of Cape Cod ] and two "boys" in speedo's who were holding hands and kissing in public strolled by.

They heard me comment to her "well look at that, couple of twinkies enjoying the day" [ or close to that ]. They didn't say a word, even turn around [ and I watched them walk away for a bit ] but they told a local leo who then caught up to us, asking what I'd said about two of their citizens of P town.

I had been on the streets for a few years at that point [ working for attys and testifying on the stand in various courts ] so I looked at him puzzled and said I'm not sure what you're talking about. He explained the two boys in speedo's had overheard what I told my wife. What did I say, pressing the issue. I told him I don't believe I said anything, they must be mistaken. He couldn't do crap with an outright denial of saying anything, wait for it

It became a he said she said situation. 😯 I know one of them had to be playing that role :D
