Not sure if this post even belongs in this category but here goes....

I recently met someone who, due to an accident, has half of 2 fingers missing and he told me his app was rejected because of "incomplete fingerprints"
This strikes me as discriminatory and illegal.

Any thoughts on this ?

That sounds like some numb-skull bureaucrat: "No print, no licence."

Hard to provide what you don't have.... have the tech write "finger missing" in each of the empty boxes...

What a maroon.

All he needs is to send a letter from the one who did the prints stating that those prints were as true and legible as possible to achieve given the circumstances. I had to get this letter from my local Sherrif's office because my first set was not legible.

i would guess if the prints were turned in with the statement that the gentileman was missing fingers it would have flown...if they just sent them in without an explanation the response would be normal...

Has he talked with a supervisor at the DoA about the rules? I would think that an affidavit from the person who took his fingerprints would clear this up.
Its not even that complicated . . . though that will work too. What should have happened is that the official doing the prints should have made note on the card the digits were missing.

I'd probably go back and find the person who did the prints and give them a smack on the back of the head.

. . . well you know; unless they carry a gun . . . or a badge, or both. In which case I would explain very politely that they screwed up and insist very politely that they fix their screw up at no further expense to you.:aarg

Bingo!!!!!!!! Likely the print card looked incomplete, and was not accompanied by a letter explaining the missing digit/s.

+1 on giving the finger

I had a accident back in 03 that cut up my 3 middle fingers on My right hand. It altered my prints, I thought about it when I went in to renew and I was going to mention it. But I guess i'm getting older and I forgot to say anything.
Anyhow I didn't have a problem.

They being said this week I've had crazy amounts of pain on my right middle finger.
I'm afraid it might slow me down in a emergency.
I may need to practice more with my weak hand.

Noticed that this is a somewhat dated thread, but thought I'd ad that in over three decades as a LEO I must've taken many, many thousands of prints. All that need be done is to indicate on the digit space that the finger is missing by writing in "AMP". I did so on each occasion and NEVER had a single set rejected............don't know if it's still policy, but years back sloppy/smudged & incomplete cards were returned to the submitting agency.
