Has anyone with a Super Tuck noticed that the finish on the front of the gun gets worn from rubbing on the inside of your jeans? Or if your jeans get worn out from the gun rubbing on it?

Then, has anyone tried a Comp Tac (Minotaur?) holster? Seems similar except the kydex covers the whole gun instead of leaving the bottom exposed.

comp tac (Minotaur?):

The first and only holster I've ever bought or needed is a Crossbreed Supertuck.

I don't notice finish wear because my gun's slide is stainless and the frame is polymer. No worries.

However: the finish wearing a bit happens. Period. If you carry your gun in a holster, and it has some type of applied finish, it's going to start wearing, whether the holster is leather, kydex, or some hybrid, and whether or not the muzzle is completely closed off or not.

As long as you properly maintain and clean your CCW, then there is little risk to the gun. Heck, many folks consider the finish wear a noteworthy feature on a carry gun.

Note that I said carry gun. If you have a gun that you feel needs to maintain a pristine finish, then don't carry it and keep it in the safe. Otherwise, expect the finish to wear. How soon and how much depends on the finish, the holster, how much you sweat, how well you maintain your weapon, and how often it is holstered and reholstered.

valid points. the gun is definitely not a show piece. it is an all black sig with a piece of a bicycle tire pulled over the grip - pretty utilitarian.

I guess it would be different if I were carrying a gold plated desert eagle (or whatever it is that the kids think is cool these days)...

As is fairly obvious, I'm partial to the Supertuck. However, the C-Tac has it's advantages as well.

One is the ability to buy different kydex shells, and use the same leather backing, so if you've got multiple carry guns, conceivably, you can just swap out for the appropriate shell for the desired carry gun of the day and have at it, without paying full price for multiple holsters. I have heard that this isn't as convenient as one would think. If you decide to change guns at the last minute, there is some time involved in swapping out the shells. Also, if the guns are considerably different, you may also end up having to reposition clips and whatnot on the holster. YMMV.

I believe the C-Tac is a few dollars cheaper, but I haven't looked for a while. However, the Supertuck has a lifetime warranty, and Crossbreed's customer service is excellent. I've had my Supertuck over a year, and if I need new clips because I goofed up and snapped/bent one, I know I'll get a new set delivered free, with the only question asked being "What's your address?".

That's not to say C-Tac's customer service is bad; I can only speak from direct experience with Crossbreed, and they've been excellent.

I don't think you could go wrong with either option. As far as the original post goes, finish wear should be a non-issue in your choice.

Cheers,

I have 2. My G27 one has the muzzle almost completely enclosed. I have noticed some very slight wear make on the top of the slide of my G27.

The other is for a Beretta M9. That the muzzle hangs out. I haven't noticed any wear from that, but I also don't carry that around much. It's too heavy.

Got two myself, a Qwik-Clip and a Supertuck, both for my XD-40. Love both of them. And I could care less for any wear on the gun - it's a "working" weapon, not a show piece.

If its your glock I wouldnt worry about it. I have sent more than a couple back to glock, they will refinish the slide for about 40 or 50 bucks...Its worth it after the weapon is a couple years old regardless. Glock 30
