Followed the link in the other thread. This is really a "different" looking rig and I'm curious if anyone with a larger gun uses one and how effective it is?

Also curious as to how kydex effects the finish of the slide vs. a leather holster.

There've been a couple of threads on Kholster here before.

That's an awful lot of leather for an IWB holster, even just as a backing.

Their original design used to be a direct ripoff of the Crossbreed Supertuck (located in the same state, conveniently enough). Shortly after coming on scene, their design was changed to this large garbage can lid design.

My personal preference is Crossbreed. Nice price. GREAT customer service. Lifetime warranty that they actually honor.

As far as effects on finish, I've heard that leather can wear a gun's finish more than kydex. My gun's slide is stainless and has a plastic frame, so finish wear is a non-issue for me. However, finish wear should be the least worry on a carry gun.

A carry gun is meant to be carried, drawn, and reholstered frequently. Regardless of what type of holster you're using, a carry gun WILL eventually get wear on the finish. For the vast majority of folks who carry, that's not an issue at all, as long as the gun is properly maintained. If you're so concerned about the finish wear of your gun, then maybe it needs to remain a safe queen.

LOL, thanks. Just an old guy here and was interested in seeing IF kydex was MORE abrasive than leather. I understand leather wears the finish, especially bluing, because I have carried in leather since 1969 or so.:D

I am thinking of attempting to carry my new XDM with the very hard melonite finish so, if the kydex isn't really rough on things, it shouldn't offend my sense of order (old cops have senses of "order" ya know!) too much. I know rough and tumble guys don't worry about such things! I got over that looooong ago!:drinks

I had one and I remember posting about it. I personally thought it was just "ok". I no longer have it if that is of any use...lol

I agree there is way to much leather and I cut mine to make it more comfortable but it still wasn't very comfortable. The screws come loose quite often so you would need to use loctite to keep them in place once you find the most comfortable position. I used it for my Glock 22.

I picked it up when it was on sale and thought what the heck let me give it a try.

I only CC my M&P 40c or my P11 now so I dumped the Kholster for the G22 and never really looked at any other IWB to replace it with.

All in all, I think for the money it isn't the worse you could do, trimming it up aside, there are lots of positions to make it work for just about anyone I suppose so....maybe wait for it to go back on sale and pick one up to mess with. Push comes to shove just return it if you don't like it as he has a 100% return policy.

Thanks G22. They are on sale now, it appears, for 36 bucks and shipped free. Hard not to try it for that BUT I thought the same about the Fobus untill I saw how far it stuck out , even with a little PF 9, LOL.

The main advantage I see of the Crossbreed is it can be had in horsehide for better sweat repelling in our heat. Other than that, seems similar IF you cut the other down after finding the right cant and height.

Still not sure I won't just go for a nice pancake OWB though. I'm not real heavy (200 lbs, 6', 36' waist is a tad loose and 34 too tight) but age has given me a bit of a "spare" I never used to carry!:D

If your intent is to CC your full size XD I think an IWB would be much easier then an OWB depending on clothes selection. It being FL, I'm mostly a shorts and t-shirt guy with the occasional button up printed shirt which is easy to OWB most firearms.

I didn't have a problem hiding the G22 under a t-shirt with the kholster as with the adjustments you can really give it a crazy cant. I think I paid the $36 bucks when I bought it as well.

Try it out....whats the worse that happens??? You return it???!!:thumsup

Yep, I might. I have been pocket carrying a PF 9 but just feel more secure with my XDM range experiences. In Florida , I don't worry much about printing since it isn't really illegal and I have carried long enough not to be so self conscious BUT the Springfield full size MIGHT be a bit much without special accomodations, even for me!:laughing

Yea, I had a problem hiding the receiver on my G22. Of course, that is where the crazy cant helped out at.

Congratulations :drinks
Finally somebody who is not worried about printing :thumsup

I am suspicious of all those who make a big deal out of printing; seems to me they still feel, subconsciously, that a gun is "bad".
