BUCWL = BackUp Concealed Weapons License

Got my license a couple of months ago and have been carrying every since. Yesterday I got another letter from the Department of Agriculture and in it was another CWL. Everything just like the first one... same issue date, number and everything... What gives?

One for each gun:pistols

Never heard of getting two - maybe it's mandatory you carry. :rolf
If the card is smaller, you could carry your BUCWL in an ankle rig! :rolf

Keep the second one in the nightstand just in case you lose your wallet. On less thing not to have to replace! Cool. I think I'll ask for one.

Beers y'all,
Ken
lol @ putting it in your ankle.

The law about drivers licenses states you can only have one at a time. No duplicates.

I'd say that in the interest of being responsible you should return the duplicate.

The problem I see here is you may not be the only person with a dup. If there is a problem with duplicate issues, then that needs to be brought to the attention of the Ag department and rectified before one ends up on the street in the hands of someone that ought not have one.

Why would you have a second license??

I called DOA to complain that I havent received my license after around 12 days after they said they issued it. Ms. Sweet said she would issue me another. she said if the other does show up just cut it up. needless to say i just put it in my truck in my registration folder for that day I forget my wallet, at least I will have some form of ID.
Jess, can you tell me what statute says that I can't have a duplicate Drivers licence. I can't find one. Just curious. Not that I have one, but since one can renew 18 months in advance and no one asks for your old one if you renew online, I can understand how someone could end up with two valid licences.

322.051 Identification cards.--

(6) It is unlawful for any person:

(a) To display, cause or permit to be displayed, or have in his or her possession any fictitious, fraudulently altered, or fraudulently obtained identification card.

(b) To lend his or her identification card to any other person or knowingly permit the use thereof by another.

(c) To display or represent any identification card not issued to him or her as being his or her card.

(d) To permit any unlawful use of an identification card issued to him or her.

(e) To do any act forbidden, or fail to perform any act required, by this section.

(f) To photograph, photostat, duplicate, or in any way reproduce any identification card or facsimile thereof in such a manner that it could be mistaken for a valid identification card, or to display or have in his or her possession any such photograph, photostat, duplicate, reproduction, or facsimile unless authorized by the provisions of this section.

I do not see any provisions to the section. I know that companies make copies of DL/ID's everyday. As you see, it falls under the category of Drivers Licenses but seems to apply to Identification Cards. But one could assume that because a Drivers license doubles as Identification that it could apply to a drivers license. Definately not a very clear statute. It could be open to interpretation i would assume?? TEST CASE ANYONE??? :)

Sorry for my delay. Okay, I might be wrong about driver license, however CDL .. the commercial driver license, you can have only one. That I know from my CDL testing, etc., so I might have jumped a bit about the regular driver license dups.

I don't have the statute on hand, but if you look in the Code of Federal Regulations in the areas for commercial drivers it's in there, that I know for sure, it was on the test :)
Sorry for the confusion there.

To Air Force Shooter;
as a commercial driver, you could go and get one from another state, so in case you ever get it taken for some reason that is state only (Florida suspends but Arizona would not honor the suspension) you could still drive for a while. That's why, I've seen it happen through the years.

:rolf I love it!

I don't know about the actual legality of it, but if you ask at the DMV they will say that you aren't allowed to have more than one license. When I go in for a replacement license (I have to get a new license like once a year due to my misplacing licenses) they always sternly tell me to destroy my old license if I find it. If I, hypothetically speaking, found them I prefer to just keep them as duplicates. That's why I, hypothetically, have a license in my pocket, my purse, my car, Hubby's car, and my desk. I can't lose them all! :D

A duplicate state issued DL is a valid ID card. The law is stating that a person cannot make their own fake one.
