I have Paula thinking about this one. She mentioned the other night that she’d like to go to another one; so here it is!

I hope to be able to make a commitment for either one or two soon!

I just ordered 1000 rounds of Winchester 115 gr 9mm from SG Ammo.
I figure that should do the two of us for one day; but of course I’ll bring along some of my reloads for “just in case.”

I might be interested. Any details for requirements?
This is a basic writeup that I found for one of Rick’s one day TFP courses last year.

THE DATE AND SUCH WILL BE “OFF,” BECAUSE IT ISN’T FOR THE CURRENT COURSE!

Where: Okeechobee Shooting Sports – Florida's Best Outdoor Range

Okeechobee Shooting Sports
7055 NE 48th St.
Okeechobee, FL 34972

If you have not been there before you can save time by signing into their system online at: Be sure to complete your smart waiver ahead of time!

When: Saturday, March 6, 2021 10 DEC 2022

Cost:
$200.00 plus $20.00 range fee

Times: 10am-5pm 9 AM to 4 PM
Be at the range by 98:30AM to sign in at the office. We will then go to the Bay and gear up.

Requirements: Eye and ear protection; up to 600 rounds of ammo if you shoot a high cap pistol or up to 400 rounds for single stack firearms; as many mags/speed loaders as you have; a belt, holster and an open mind.

Course description of skills covered:
1. Range and Gun Safety
2. WW2 ½ hip-Elbow Up/Elbow Down: [EU/ED]
3. WW2 ¾ hip-hand/eye coordination with and without movement
4. WW2 Point Shoulder
5. Zipper
6. Using skills on multiple threats
7. EU/ED with movement

A well made strong side holster and sturdy belt will be required for this course. Use of an IWB holster must be approved by the instructor. We will be drawing from the holster 90% of the time all weekend. A holster will allow the students be able to re-holster an unloaded firearm and be safe once off the firing line while reloading mags/speed loaders without having to handle the firearm until returning to the line. No BH Serpa holsters on the range that weekend.

These skills are reactionary in nature, similar to having to draw from the holster out on the streets if one needs to defend themselves. I understand some may use a cross draw holster, or fanny pack, or perhaps pocket carry presently, but once students have completed the course, I believe they'll find the benefit of a good strong side outside or inside the waistband holster with their future carry requirements.

Kydex or leather is acceptable. I use both in classes and either will suffice equally with the skills covered.

Any questions about the course, the materials listed we'll cover, etc don't hesitate to ask. Look forward to meeting new and prior students.

Rick will probably put a new course description up soon. (Or Beerhunter can update/improve this one. - DONE and moved details to OP, v/r, BH) 👍

Appendix carry isn't appropriate for your class?
Hey Mike:

The class is Rick Weaver’s (exbluelight), not mine.

I don’t know about appendix carry for the class, though most of the holster types not allowed are because they provide too great of an opportunity for others to be inadvertently swept/muzzled as the shooter is drawing/holstering. That wouldn’t seem to be a concern for appendix carry.
As of the latest rule changes; appendix carry is now allowed when shooting IDPA.

I’ll give them a call tomorrow.
I was going to make a reservation today, but decided to wait until the storm was gone.

What rates are you all getting? I just looked and they are quoting $200 for one night. I don’t recall it being that pricey last time.

Is there a discount for the class like last time?

Sorry Bro; ‘tis the season (snowbird, that is). With discounts, mine was still over $200.00 before taxes, etc.

I just keep mine in a scabbard in the backseat floor in my truck. 👍
It hides under a folded soft cooler and a gel seat cushion.

For sure. Do what works for you. I’m just trying to visualize it.
Do you draw them with index finger forward or twist your hand a bit to grab them with index finger facing back?
Even with his later description; I can't figure out any way that makes for a smooth, fast reload either.

“I'm working mostly as an RSO and even I'm bringing at least four pistols!”

Same here.

I’m bringing a pistol that I’ve never shot in a TF course before, plus two backups that I have shot TF with. Paula’s M&P9 takes it up to four, not counting our carry guns. The backups are for her too; as she shoots an M&P9.

Oh yeah; I’m bringing a fifth pistol and mags for 7.62 to shoot for a bit.
