Just heard that we are now allowed to carry on Amtrak. Can anyone else verify this? It benefits me in a great way, if true....anybody else?
Amtrak..legal to carry on board?

Don't know for sure...friend up in Jersey works for the state and says it just went through, but I didn't find it online.

What is being reported is a policy similar to that of airlines.
Carry? Not allowed. But before this, you were not even allowed to carry in checked luggage (as with airlines).
I don't have a link, just what I read on another forum.

He could've been confused with the Virginia trains, I believe they just voted to allow carry of loaded weapons. Can't contact him till tomorrow AM to veryify anything.
Its been about 10 years since I travelled on Amtrak...but I don't recalll my luggage ever being checked...they just threw it in the storage area. I know for sure they didn't search or check my carry on bag. Things may have changed since then.
They did however stop the train in El Paso Tx to allow feds to search for a wanted criminal they though might be trying to get to Tucson, AZ.

Just spoke to friend in Jersey...it was confused with Virginia trains....Would have been great for me to travel to my South Carolina house...now it's eight hours of driving.:cry
