There is a new range in St. Augustine. I shoot at the FOP in St. Augustine. Being a newbie to the pistol/range thing and coming from the FOP (the only range I have really ever shot at) to this range was equal to a small boy who had a jungle gym in his back yard and now arriving at Busch Gardens for the first time. Boy did they have the toys. Sadly, with our current economic situation, I find that I am the poorest white boy here so I will just keep shooting at the FOP using my self made PVC target stand.
Another note: I usually shoot with the same guys and as typical, to our human nature, having little real knowledge of the sport or others abilities, I feel I am a pretty good defensive shooter. BOY WAS I WRONG. There were three guys at the above range; their weapons they said cost over three thousand dollars and had those fancy target sights and magazine mouth (don't know what to call it?), holly smokes, there are some really good shots out there and I have a feeling there are some of these "freaks of nature" on Florida Concealed Carry.
I need to practice...A LOT!:ak
I guess I need to buy a reloader too. These guys said they shoot at least once a week and shoot over 500 rounds per session. OUCH!:pistols
Anyway, reality checks can really s**k.:mad:

Save your money on the reloader...Just make friends with somebody that has one...:D

If you have never shot uspsa you should come out sat. morning we have a match at the fop lodge in St. Augistine . Will see some "race" guns in action!


There ARE people like us there also.:rolf It will be my 4TH match and am hooked. Really fun way to improve skills....and fun crowd to soot with.

Don't know if you were shooting outside at the "new" place so I don't know how this will sound but if it is outside and you want a cheap target holder, get some of those wire house for sale/real estate for sale sign holders. You can either tape or staple a piece of cardboard to the top part to which you can tape or staple your targets and have a "throw away" target holder if it gets shot up. Corrugated cardboard works really well because it is 2 sided with the little "grooves" between the pieces and they usualy fit well on the upper part of the sign holder.

I used to use those soley as well, then I go home about a year ago on R&R and the range I've been using since 1993 all of a sudden has a Range Nazi on it. No targets lower than 3 foot at the bottom of the target, no this, no that. I'm a Marine and former LEO and I've been in Iraq for 2 years and have been carrying guns half my life and this guy wants to try to explain things to me. He's just some homeless yahoo that took a job at a range for a place to stay. :smack

Come shoot with me. Where I shoot, they'll let you rent a helicopter or small plane, let it fly slow and low over the range with a bulls eye painted on it. You can blast away! You can also dig a hole, put your target in it, bury it and...blast away!
Kidding but they are pretty open to whatever type of shooting you want to do as long as you are safe!:drinks
