Interview please

We still have a couple of students paying attention :D

The Interview: This is where the criminal decides if you are safe to attack. "Can I get away with it?" This is the one interview you want to fail. If you fail, the assailant decides that he cannot successfully, or easily, attack you. Then if he is a criminal, he will proceed to seek easier prey. The most common and #1 type Interview is the Regular interview..What is this?..Like I said before, it is when you are approached by someone seemingly wanting something i.e. a light for a cigarette, directions to a certain destination, a couple of dollars for gas, etc etc..I am not discounting that some are actual panhandlers but why take the chance..This is nothing more than a distraction. While he is talking, he is not only getting in position to attack, but a) checking your awareness about what he is doing and b) your commitment to defending yourself. Most times he will have a partner, hiding in the shadows with a vehicle close by. Most muggers and rapist will use this technique. If you happen to be a kind hearted soul and decide to whip out the wallet or fistful of cash, you just invited a violent aggravated assault. If the attack does not happen within moments after doing so, you had better be checking your mirrors on the way home. They will and have attacked when you hit that auto garage door opener. ..Now, I want you all to remember this is a MUGGER..go back and read the psychological profile. Again, it happens in those transitional/fringe areas while we are walking to or from one place to another. This is why you should always be careful when someone approaches you in a fringe area and asks for something. Your answer should always be "no" and insist on him keeping his distance.

The #2 type Interview ?

Wise old cop reminded me one day that while walking through those danger zones, at least attempt to keep your gun hand free [ don't hold something in that hand when you can as easily hold it in your off hand ].

Are we having fun yet?:)

The #2 type Interview
Hot Hot interviews are very sudden and unexpected. They can be very emotionally upsetting for you. They seemingly "come out of nowhere", when you least expect it and when you are minding your own business one minute but the next you have this threatening, cursing, screaming madman coming your way. The success of this type strategy for the criminal totally relies on you not being used to or prepared in dealing with this type of extreme emotional violence. Its depending on you to react in a stunned and confused manner. The key to your survival in this type of Interview is to immediately shift into an extreme mode/mindset of physical violence in order to fail such interviews. Paradoxically, if you can immediately display this commitment, the attacker will often abort. This an example of Mr. Ugly being on call instantaneously ..

The type #3 Interview next....still hanging in there with me folks??..:) Come on guys,,,this is a 'Student Involvement Class'..the more you get involved the more you'll understand and increase your Knowledge base..We are still on #1 Awareness..ya'll know how long this could take just to get through the 3 basics..? and just think I usually charge for this kind of info..:)

Jim
I'm all ears. Still reading.

Good stuff!

All i can say is Keep goin Bro, This Great Stuff!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep going.
The type #3 Interview..is the Escalating InterviewAn escalating interview starts out normally like a Regular Interview but it rapidly turns hostile. It is a test by the Bad guy(s) of your mental, emotional and physical boundaries by them escalating their outrageous behavior. It is unlike a hot interview, which actually starts out immediately hostile, this one will build. Some of us have seen it when we refuse to give in to certain demands in what appears to be nothing more than panhandling. Every time he is not slapped down (i.e., he is successful), his behavior becomes more and more extreme until finally he attacks.

Ya'll ready for #4 ? ..The Silent Interview
I'm typing from my phone. I rarely do that!
VERY interested! Please continue.
Consider this a warm up for September.

#4 The Silent Interview.. This is common with our most violent, sociopathic, dysfunctional muggers.. or gang bangers if you will...A silent interview is when a criminal puts himself in a position to observe you. He may never speak until the attack, but he has been watching all along. He may position himself out of sight in a parking structure and follow you. Or he may make his presence known and decide to attack if you show fear of his presence.

and #5..The Prolonged Interview..This type of interview is usually associated with the Stalker. They will follow you for days unbeknown to you or your loved ones. The intent is robbery, scam artist who has gained your trust or a serial rapist.

I'm going to wrap up the Awareness information now as I think most of you get the idea that just being "Aware" is not enough. There is much more to be learned by all of us within this category in itself. Suffice to say, volumes could be written on this one subject alone.. but before I lose everybody..why dont we move on to the #2 basic key to survival of a violent encounter..and that is...AVOIDANCE.. which also entails the #3 item of the 5 stages of violent crime.. Positioning We'll get to that a little later on..

But first we have to ask ourselves what is Avoidance ? Ok class, your turn..:)

Here and fully focused.
For each one of us who actually writes, there are many more following along. Can't see us but the classroom is full!

I'll tune in tomorrow.
Folks I think we'll take a break from the classroom tonight..I looked at my first post and it was 10:48 this A.M..Dinner is calling, its getting late for most of you. So I think we'll continue our Avoidance lecture tomorrow. This can also be a very complicated subject. Most would think its just being able to escape and evade or the ability to recognize a situation that could prove to be dangerous and to take evasive action...that just scratches the surface..This is more about YOU than the criminal...yeah, I know, thats kind of a cryptic but it will have to suffice until next time..Right now, I'm going to grab a meal and a cold one..Cheers..:drinks
Until tomorrow.
Thank you for the instruction!
I am sure we all are grateful. I am.

PS The problem with postings and emails is that it is VERY easy to misread someones intentions. We miss smiles, gestures, etc.
SwampRat, could you recommend a book with this sort of information? MaryLee and I will definitely attend your first available course that has openings after I get my license. But is there anything that we can study up on ahead of time?
I say we ban SwampRat - he's too depressing. :rolf

Seriously, this is good stuff SR. Thanks for taking the time to educate us.

There is..I'll make sure to pass on my material source along with recommendations of books, DVD's etc..right now I dont want to dilute this with whose author, what book or DVD is their favorite..However there will be no bibliography..
SwampRat,

Excellent info........somethings never change....like the ability for your life to take a sudden turn from smooth sailing to total chaos in a nano second. Keep it coming this is good stuff. Always vigilant.......let me see your war face. :ak
SW, I was in class til noon yesterday. I'm working at getting cought up this morning (the dog ate my homework - honest - so I brought an apple for the teacher.)

Please continue.
I had to leave in the middle of class. Thank goodness for posted logs of the lectures.

My daughter has a friend coming over for the night. My son will be on wii with daddy. I'll be in here wrapping my head around survival scenarios. What a strange family we are. [g]

Seriously, SR, your classroom lessons are read by many and its influences are far reaching.

Thank you for caring about FCC.
