go shoot them.

Glock has several models.
XD comes in four models.
I've no experience with the M&P's.

All are very dependable from what I've read so far.

See which one you fit the best and shoots the best for you.

Cant go wrong with any of those..all are top of line pistols..For comparisons sake though the G26 is more on par with, M&P9c and theXD9sc size and capacity.

Glock 26 9mm.(Baby Glock)
DAO, 3.5" barrel, 10 +1. (12 with baseplate)

S&W M&P 9cmm.
DAO, 3.5" barrel, 12 +1.

Springfield XDsc 9mm.
DAO, 3" barrel, 10+1 or 16+1 with extended mag

or you can compare the

Glock 19/17
19-4" barrel, 15+1
17-4.5" barrel, 17+1

M&P 9mm Service model
4.25" barrel, 17+1

XD9mm Service model...
4" barrel, 16+1

Xbonz, I have been doing a comparison between the Glock G26 and the Springfield XD9 subcompact in the thread linked below. So far, the comparison is just ergonomics and features, with plans to take them to the range in the near future. You may or may not find it informative. If you don't, it won't hurt my feelings. I'm not a professional, just the average layman who can handle a couple of different items and decide for myself which one appeals to me the most personally. It's all opinion although I try to be fair to both handguns. I own both the guns so I have no axe to grind. Let the chips fall where they may.

+1 on the go shoot them idea. That way you'll be able to make up your own mind. Good luck. :thumsup

By all means, shoot an example of each, if you can. An additional factor you may wish to consider regarding the XD9Sc is that Springfield now makes a flush-fit 13 round mag that's the same size as the flush-fit 10 rounder, giving 13+1 loaded capacity.

(Not trying to step on your toes, SwampRat - I just found out about them myself.)

I don't own the M&P myself, but I shoot with several people who use the M&P in competition and for their EDC, quite a few are former Glock shooters.

The M&P line has several models in various sizes and configurations. All M&P pistols have interchangeable backstraps to allow for different hand sizes.

I'm very happy with my Springfield XDM 9mm and highly recommend it. But I also suggest that you try a few of them out and pick the one that feels the best for you. There are still some ranges out there that have weapons for rent, try as many as you can before you make a selection.

Xbonz, I've had a G26 EDC for years. The weapon will flat out take some abuse and still work without question. I have no experience with the others on your list, but can recommend the G26 without reservation.

I know it gets few votes in these "debates" but, I really like the Ruger SR9. They're suprisingly thin and light for their size, so concealability is super easy, but, they still have a little size to them, making them easy to control and a respectable home defense tool. They can be found in the $400 range, less if you really shop around.

Best part is...that 17+1 capacity in such a narrow frame! :dancingbanana

Certainly Ruger has a decent reputation to boot.

I neglected to mention in my earlier post on this thread: I own a Ruger SR9 myself, and use it as my EDC and my IDPA gun. Very happy with the gun.

9mm choices..part 2

Thanks for all the info folks..Went to the local gun store to check the weapons for fit..Learned a lot..the Glock 26 did not fit my hand, the S&W M&P fit my hand but not my budget, the XD 9 fit my hand and my budget but for about $20 more I found the Glock 19 to be a perfect fit..Now just need to (excuse the pun), bite the bullet..Not quite prepared to spend $500+ for a weapon..Will check the Ruger SR9 next, unless somebody knows of a reason to stay away...again thanks
