I don't think you will need your debit card. I was told a Check or money order only, they are unable to process debit cards. At least not here in Tampa. I paid by personal check and got my CCW 8 days later! Not bad at all! :thumsup Let us know how long it takes for yours to arrive!
I just completed my application at the West Palm office, brought everything I was told to, EXCEPT proof of United States citizenship. The official said probably not to worry as this should be easliy determined at the capital. Have all of you shown proof of US residency during your application process?
Today I received my forms for renewal (expires in July). I think I will try calling the Orlando office and see what they tell me about coming in for renewal. If it will be impossible, I will just go ahead and do it by mail. I have plenty of time, anyway.
Yeah, I've yet to hear anything about the backlog in Orlando. I've been phoning them for a few days and only been left with a voicemailbox. Never received a call back :/
Still just continuously being forwarded to a dead-end voicemailbox I phoned Tampa. They set me up for three weeks out and had afternoon or morning appointments available.
I sent my application in August, recieved mine the day after Christmas...Thats the old way! I found out about the "Fast Track" program a week or so after i mailed mine, i was SSSSOOOOOO mad! lol I am glad it finally came.
EWwwww! So much for THAT plan, huh? You're almost waiting longer than many of us did mailing ours out a year or so ago.
I'm afraid I don't know about the Military ID and such, but, there are those here who do.
But, yes, from what I understand, you just take in whatever ID you need, whatever proof of training you need and your checkbook. They'll do the rest. They take your picture, prints, and help you fill out the application.
I just took a class, walked right into the Baymeadows location in Jax and was done in maybe 15 or 20 minutes. Got it in the mail inside of a week after that. There was no one else there. Even if there is a major surge in people getting licensed to carry, I can't see these new waits being justified. The system now is very quick and easy - there's no excuse for that.
Well, I guess I got lucky - I got mine in the narrow window between when it got good and when it started going downhill again.
I had my appointment on April 12th at the Punta Gorda office and it was a wonderful expierence. It was less then 20 mins and the staff there was friendly and the girls there made it so simple. They told me a 7 to 14 days, I still havent recieved it yet but it's only the 20th. I will call if if I don't hear anything buy Friday. Those of you that have called to check, is it ok to call this soon?
Filled out my application at the Baymeadows office in Jacksonville on the 15th so it should be arriving any day now. Took less than 20 minutes and was very smooth. Had to wait over a month for the appointment, though.
what they are leaving out is it takes about two months to get an appointment at the orlando office i did mine this way and it took about 30-45 mins total and got my permit in 2 weeks
true, mine was 2 months before I could get an appointment but this is the best way to go, all I bought with me was my DD214 (copy), checkbook and drivers license, can't get much easier than that. :drinks
I will attest...it works just like he described the process, or better.
I went down to the Punta Gorda facility, easy to find off I-75. I did have an appointment and filled out the online app, took digital fingerprint and picture in a few minutes; they made copies of my certificate; I gave them a CHECK, and was out the door completed in less than 20 minutes.
The EVEN BETTER news is that EIGHT days, yes only 8 days, from the day I was there, my permit showed up at my house to my pleasant surprise.
The staff in Punta Gorda is excellent and friendly. This part of dealing with the beaucracy was excellent. Hope they can keep it up and others have the same experience I did.
Hi Paul, they cashed my check the next day after my appointment, I was going to wait to call the public line till around the 12th day or so but it came on the 7th biz day. Hope this helps.:drinks
In the timelines thread, they're getting check cash information from their own bank. Information about when the license was actually issued they get by calling the Department of Agriculture.
A friend moved down to FL earlier this year and has established permanent residence. Does a NY State NRA Hunter Safety certificate satisfy the requirement to apply for CFWL or does he need to sit through a class?
His cert is fine. Though I would certainly recommend you set him in front of someone knowledgeable in FL Firearms law, and insist he by Gutmacher's book.
I filled out my app, made copies of necessary docs, was notarized, pictured, and fingerprinted all in the same afternoon. Then I placed all items into the envelope, took it to the post office and mailed it on March 10th. On April 19th, I had my CWFL in my hands. (Just under 6 weeks)
I knew they did the electronic fingerprints in downtown Tampa, but I didn't know you could do the entire app process as well. I think I'll give it a try when I have to renew in 2017.

Actually, the way things are running now, that's a fairly long wait.
