Pro-gun advocate Michael Taylor of the group Florida Carry showed up at Thursday’s Ordinances, Rules and Standards Committee meeting and called for Mayor Gail Coniglio and Police Chief Nicholas Caristo to be fired for allegedly violating the Second Amendment.

Taylor, who had an infant in a stroller with him, took to the podium and began reading the Second Amendment from a piece of paper. He got up to speak during the public comments section of the meeting, which had as its focus a controversial move to landmark houses on the “Sea’ streets” — Seaspray, Seaview and Seabreeze avenues.

The Port St. Lucie resident, said Caristo and Coniglio were violating the Constitution by sending a letter to Florida Senator Bobby Powell, seeking to amend the section of Florida’s gun law that allows the “use and possession of a firearm while engaged in fishing, camping, target shooting or hunting, or going to and from lawful hunting, fishing, target shooting or camping expeditions.”
