You're in a fast food joint like McDs when---------

A guy walks in with a hunting knife, moves to the counter and demands the register monies.

The place only has 1/2 dozen patrons, firing lane/s are open so no need for a thread the needle shot.

You're armed with your normal edc, what ya gonna do?

    1. Intercede by drawing and ordering him to drop the knife
    2. get on the phone to 911 and be a good witness
    3. Prepare for battle but not act unless the knifer starts attacking people
    4. Pull the gun, walk up as close asd possible and shoot him in the back or back of the head
    5. Do nothing, continue to finish your meal

    6. Go to Burger King and order a Whopper with cheese.

You said he walks in with a knife but didn't eloborate. Is it in hand or in a sheath on his belt? That will determine the next steps.

Need a little more info please.

Way too many variables. If he's on one side of the counter and the employee is on the other side of the counter, and there are no other customers near him, then nobody is in danger of getting stabbed RFN. Lots of details could swing this from "be a good witness" to "dispense medicine".

Knife in hand obviously, if it's sheathed I doubt he's threatening to stab anyone until he presents the knife.

Nope, I'm not doing this one because there is no answer until it happens.

No sir. You didn't state the knife was in hand or that he was threatening to stab anyone and I don't trust that 25 posts down your not going to say just that, I just said...

    You guys just assumed that...

Again. Too many variables and not enough info.

I'd be interested in any case you could come up with where someone was threatening to stab another with a knife still sheathed.

I'd walk up to him, and state, in the best Australian voice I could muster... "That's not a knife!".

But seriously, I would not act unless personally threatened.
I would make my exit, call 911.
Unless the McDonalds is located in California, which case, screw-em. (And I wouldn't be there in that case anyway.)
They can ban assault sporks next.
