My daughter just realized her permit has expired, (3 weeks ago), I know she has up to six months to renew THIS permit, is there any leeway carry wise or is she completely forbidden to carry?
An expired license is invalid. So an expired FCWL is invalid to carry concealed. She can carry her firearm securely encased in her car without a license until her renewal is complete. I would advise that she go to one of the eight regional offices or an authorized tax collector's office. Also, f.s. 790.01(2) states:
(2) Except as provided in subsection (3), a person who is not licensed under s. 790.06 and who carries a concealed firearm on or about his or her person commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.
If it's expired, it's just like she never had one to begin with, except that it can be renewed much faster than a new application. Don't expect any leeway on carrying. Just get to a regional office & fix it.
