I checked the Springer site and it says Forearm brace instead of butt stock.
It looks a bit different than a stock but is there any real diff? (other than the name and the law)

Well, technically it is the "intent" of the user.

A rifle is designed to be fired from the shoulder.

A pistol is not. If you buy/build a gun with the intent to fire it from the shoulder it is a rifle.

If you buy/build a gun with intent to use the brace to stabilize the gun with your forearm, then it is not a rifle.

After changing their mind several times, ATF has decided that if you occasionally/incidentally shoulder a brace it is not redesigned to be a rifle.

For now, braces, when used as designed do not create a NFA firearm.

ATF has opined that there is a maximum length for a brace. Off the top of my head, I think it is something around 13 inches.
There are only 3 colors, 10 digits, and 7 notes; it's how we arrange them that is important.

The bump stock does not alter the rate of fire, by the way.
Beg to differ, having used one. Fastest trigger finger fire I can muster is 5 per second. With the BF stock, it's 5 in the air before the first one hits the ground in 1/2 second, doubling the "rate of fire". Maybe Miculek can keep up with it, but for us mere mortals, it increases the rate of fire considerably/

Thanks for your attempt to answer my query.

Just put the brace on a gun and forgetaboutit Fish. It's not that complicated. Whether they can read your mind or not is irrelevant, the brace is legal on a pistol or it couldn't be sold on a pistol to begin with.

Just be careful at some ranges. There are a few that will stop you from putting the brace against your shoulder. One of the indoor ranges I go to used to have signs all over the place about that.

Shouldn't be putting it there to begin with

I won't even buy one for my ar pistol. I cheek the bar, sights are right in line with my eyes. It's a 223 after all, what recoil there is doesn't need a shoulder to control it/
