Hey everyone! I am looking into getting my CC obviously in the state of Florida. I am a 100% totally and permanently disabled veteran... My questions is, do I have to pay for my CC license or is there some “benefit” that allows me to not have to pay, or anything on that nature. I’ve looked online, but have only been able to find info about the state expediting the applications for vets. Thank you for all of you help! :)

Nope, the only benefit for any vet is expedited processing.

You have to admit, the price in not very high for a 7 year license.

Personally, I think that a waiver of the fee would be a nice token of thanks, but I have been an advocate of veterans for a long time and it is hard to get any change.

You can get a cheap hunting an fishing license if you need one. And a free pass to the state parks.

Thank you for your service.

Go to the "introduce yourself thread" and tell us more about yourself so we can welcome you appropriately.

Well, it does not waive the training. But military service, as evidenced by a DD214 is one of the acceptable documents that (h) Demonstrates competence with a firearm.

But, I understand what you meant... I think a "real benefit" would be a waiver of the fee. It's not like we don't have lots of money in the lock-box.

Welcome to FCC from Palm Beach County, ShawnaTaylor905! :wave

First, let me encourage you to get that permit. With your DD214 the training requirement is covered and with expedited processing, likely before you know it, your FLCWFL will be issued. Can't speak for any disabled veteran benefit for the application fee. Regardless, thank you for your service and sacrifice!

Since this was your first post to FCC, now would be a really good time to also go back and post you're own Introduction thread to FCC so the members get to know you. You can do that by going to the Introduce Yourself section of The Front Office and start your very own introduction thread. Then you'll find that lots of other FCC members will know to chime in to properly welcome you to the forum, and will be more responsive in answering questions!

In case you weren't aware, you can stay current on pertinent Florida Statutes regarding use of force and firearms law by going right to the source using these links for Chapter 776 - Justifiable Use of Force and Chapter 790 - Weapons and Firearms. I'd also like to suggest you obtain your own copy of FLORIDA FIREARMS Law, Use & Ownership by Jon Gutmacher!

Finally, I would like to recommend you consider joining Florida Carry and join the effort to protect the rights of Floridians to keep and bear arms!

Again, welcome to FCC! :grin

^^This x 1000 ^^
Especially if you forgo the training class which is mostly legal info.
There's a lot of misinformation out there and a lot of "experts" that will tell you things that are flat out wrong.
You can end up in jail if you just rely on common sense to tell you what to do.

This is a bit off topic, but Florida is a Vet friendly state. My son-in-law is also a 100% disabled veteran and one thing Florida does is exempt him totally from real estate taxes on their house.

But wait! You get to live in Florida property Tax free and all State and Federal parks are free. You also do not have to pay at a Parking meter to park. And If you are married your Spouse gets better health insurance, (CHAMP VA) than you do! And when you buy a house and use your VA Loan, you do not pay a funding fee. So like me, also a 100% Disabled Vietnam Vet that is thankful of all the VA does for me and my family use that savings to pay the little fee for the CC License.

And here is the Florida site for Veterans to have most all your questions about Veterans Benefits answered! Welcome from Palm Coast! http://dma.myflorida.com/state-florida-fact-sheet/
