Thanks. That's the first place I looked, but the "photo bucket" links are all dead.

There are only 3 colors, 10 digits, and 7 notes; it's how we arrange them that is important.

I recently filed a form 4 and mailed the copy to our sheriff but it does make me wonder what do they do with them after receipt?
There are no instructions in 41P that tell them to keep them in a confidential file or anything?
Won't be long before some investigative reporter finds several dozen form 4s in the dumpster behind the police station.

What are they doing with them? Read and shred? File them? Forward them to black ops letter agencies?
    What?

I would like to think that doing anything other than shredding them would be a violation of 790.335.

Some records are required by Florida guidelines (GS2), to be kept for a specified period.

The general records retention schedule does not appear to require that the ATF Forms 1 or 4 be kept for any period of time after the CLEO reviews it and does whatever he/she feels a need to do with it, as far as a background check is concerned.

FEDERAL FIREARMS NOTIFICATION RECORDS: APPLICATIONS TO TRANSFER FIREARMS Item #222
This record series consists of applications to transfer firearms submitted to the chief law enforcement officer of a localitypursuant to the National Firearms Act (NFA). The chief law enforcement officer receives Applications for Tax Paid Transferand Registration of Firearm (or similar or subsequent forms) and notifies the Department of Defense, Bureau of Alcohol,Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) if they have information that would disqualify the persons from acquiring orpossessing firearms. Applications received pursuant to 27 CFR 479.84(c) Application to Transfer, and the National FirearmsAct, 26 USC ss. 5811, Transfer tax.
Retention: Retain until review of application is complete and any applicable notifications are sent to ATF
