In protest to Clinton's 94 ban, I decided to build the shortest shotgun I could legally build. After a lot of research (remember we didn't have Google then) I built a 26 inch OAL, 18 inch barrel 12g. It was a single shot and had an exposed hammer just like this Rossi. It handled bird shot nicely, but I tried the one hand 00 buckshot stupid s*it and the hammer tore a gouge in the web of my hand. The gun departed my hand and ended up about 5 feet behind me stuck barrel first 6 inches into the ground. I ordered a new stock from the factory and replaced the one I had cut down. Lots of work into that gun and it looked cool, but no more external hammer 12g shorties for me. Now that I know what to expect, it would probably not be a issue, but fool me once...
